75%. who knew.imagine that.75% of all trucks never towed a boat,travel trailer,utility trailer , orv/atv trailer,never carried a snowmobile,hauled a load of junk to the landfill,never carried anything in the bed,no transfer tanks,construction equipment at all,never been off road.never get used for snow clearing,never get used as a winter driver.that is a crap ton of grocery getters.sure you didn't mean 5 % ?
Explain how that affects the paint? A trailer is either on the bumper or on tow hitch which have nothing to do with the paint. Even hauling stuff in the bed if you aren’t a complete Moran, you wont scratch anything but your bed. Most trucks sold are 2wd so people aren’t using them in the rest of your post. 25% of them fall under that not 75% maybe in your area, but not for the majority of the US.

Use your truck how you want to use your truck. Ceramic coat your truck or don’t. At the end of the day it’s your truck not ours. It is not a waste of money. I know plenty of my clients that use there trucks as they were intended including off roading that I have coated.

never said it was a waste of money.i said it's a waste of money paying someone else to do it.
Well the real deal Ceramics take a license to purchase and install. So unless you have that I would bet you are getting the 10% which is all that is legally needed to call it a ceramic. True Ceramic anything is not a liquid as it is will ruin the sprayer after 1 use. They start at 80% and go typically to 95%. You need to have a lot of experience to not only apply them but remove them and teach your clients how to take care of them. Trust me I thought it was stupid too when I first started, but I get it now why they make you keep up with licensing and classes every few years. It is very simple once you learn it. It is just taking everything you know about washing a car and throwing it out the window.

This discussion reminds me of why they made MD-20/20 and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1945. LOL

It's a pretty true statement. I grew up in the sticks and we used our trucks as trucks. We ALSO took care of them as if they were street queens. A well maintained truck tends to last longer and hold resale value longer.

Now I live in a city and the majority of the people here have trucks to say they have trucks. If I drive over to the corporate office, the large majority of parking spots are filled with high end luxury trucks. The majority of these folks live in HOA neighborhoods, wear suits to work, and "might" haul bags of mulch home for their flowerbeds in the spring (if they don't pay someone to do it). My wife's boss has a $100k GMC 2500 Denali "because it's big and looks cool". He's never peeled back the bed cover, let alone hooked to anything.

My wife drives a large SUV. We don't need it anymore since our kids are almost grown, but she likes the space, the size, and the look. It's never towed anything and never hauled anything more than a few beach chairs down to the beach.

I grew up in the sticks as well. When I moved up to big city I was shocked at how trucks were just a form of a daily commuter. No one here uses them. My neighbor has a newer F350 Dually 4 door lifted with a bed cover. I think I have seen it moved 3 times in the the 3 years since we have lived in the new house. I moved into the city only to find after a few years I was not a fan of the politics and cops trying to make money for anything they can get you on. We moved out and just far enough away to hear the quiet night, but the wife is still close enough to her precious target that she doesn’t have to travel far. We have roughly 8 years and we are moving down to Lake Travis and away from everyone lol. Our kids will be grown by then.

Yep, sounds similar to us. We are 20 minutes outside of downtown and were out in the country until the last year. They've since built over 900 apartments out our way, and are scheduled to build about 10 more subdivisions and another 400 apartments by the end of next year. We live on a single dead end street in the middle of cotton fields. Sadly, some developer just bought all the property (almost 300 acres) between us and the mountain behind us in preparation to build another subdivision.

Out here, we still see trucks getting used as trucks but a 10 minute drive lends itself to those mall crawlers. We're biding time until the kids are grown and move out and then we're packing up and heading down to Mexico Beach, FL. I suppose I'll need to get more strict on my cleaning regimen then since we will be exposed to more salty air.

It is starting to do that out here as well. I am about 20-25 minutes in the toll lanes from downtown as well. Just far away to hear the coyotes howl, the rabbits run, and deer run in their natural habitat. It won’t be long here either. Salt is something I am not up on, but I cant look into for you. Im 300 miles from the coast.

I'm about 350 miles from the coast, but grew up about 80 miles from the Gulf Coast. Salt wasn't a problem that far away nor a problem for my mom who grew up about 15 minutes from Gulf Shores, but I've seen it wear on vehicles that are there with beachfront access full time.

Time will tell, but by that time I will likely get a professional grade ceramic coating to help with the paint and sun anyhow. :)

I love Gulf Shores. It is a beautiful city and has gorgeous water. Back in my music days. I wrote my first solo album on the beach there.

Ha I played in our first public band competition there in 1998. We went up against 3 Doors Down amongst others.

They won, went on to do big things, and I play in my office at night by myself. Haha.

The water is much nicer in Pensacola and further south but still fun to visit when I go home.
