Recently got a 2016 Ram 2500 which I love. Dealer put new brakes all the way around. But my God do the fronts produce a ton of brake dust. I put 20" fuel sledge wheels on it and a few days after washing it, it's filthy.

Any suggestions on pads that produce minimal dust? I do not haul with it

Also, I've been considering putting balance masters on it. Wondering if that would basically shield my wheels from the dust also

I used Powerstop on my Charger, see if they have any for your 2500...great pads, low dust.

Awesome, thank you! I'm sure they just threw the cheapest on it

They probably used semi-metallic pads. For less dust you need ceramic pads but there is a trade off.

Semi metallic:
Pros- cheaper and better stopping performance than ceramic.
Cons-more dust and noise

Ceramic:
Pros-very little brake dust and quieter.
Cons: more expensive and less stopping power than semi-metallic

I think semi-metallic wear the rotor down quicker to but I might be wrong about that. Also l think they transfer heat off the rotor better.

Take your pick.

I just did my front brakes last week and I used semi-metallic. I want stopping power, I'll just clean the wheels.

I'd rather have less dust. Since I won't be hauling anything, I can't imagine the brakes won't be capable of stopping the truck sufficiently

Ceramic pads will stop the truck just fine but if you're comparing the two types there is a difference that's worth noting.

Google ceramic pads vs semi-metallic pads. There are tons of good articles out there.

It all comes down to personal preference and vehicle usage. I tow a travel trailer so that's why I went with what I did.

And avoid organic pads.

On my Charger, I couldn't tell a huge difference in stopping power between the two, but the dust cut 95%!

I put Hawk LTS on my wife's 2012 and will be doing that on my '17 very soon. Way lower dust than stock!
