Given: 2019 1500 2WD stock 50K miles
Grinding sound at steering wheel when moving very slowly and turning the wheel +/- 10 degrees in either direction both moving forward or backward. Does not occur at normal speeds. Dealer found steering rack mounting bolts loose and when tightened noise went away at least at the shop but not afterward. AI suggests it is a known issue on some RAM trucks and may not be resolved by simply tightening bolts and lists a multitude of possible causes. Surely someone on the site has experienced and solved this issue. I an open your experience.

Here is answer from a good repair shop. Found steering rack bushings noisy. Bolts appear to move in the frame. Loosened bolts which allowed bushing to rotate. Retorqued and retested and noise is no longer present at this time. If noise comes back, it will require bushings or rack replacement.
