Has anyone tried using dielectric silicone grease to lubricate their weatherstrips?

A couple of mine have started rattling (blame the hot, dry AZ summer, I guess) and I cannot find anything in the manual about weatherstripping/door seal maintenance.

The GM trucks explicitly state to use dielectric silicone grease to maintain their weatherstrips/door seals.

Thanks in advance.

I have used both silicone spray and grease on past vehicles and find the spray easier to work with than grease. Either method you need to be careful with getting on painted surfaces as it will be a pain to remove and make waxing a pain. Grease tends to go on thick and is more messy to clean up excess IMHO.

Gotcha - thanks for the tip!

Did you have rattling, too?

I'm hoping this will address my gripes since I can find no visible problems with any of the seals/weatherstrips.

No, I did not have rattling, just applied as preventative maintenance.

+1 For mothers back to black.. Works great on any material. I used it a lot on my crotch rockets and I've been using it a lot on my tri fold tonneau cover.

303 aerospace protectant. It works great on all vinyl and plastics and easily comes off painted surfaces but holds on to plastic and vinyl.

Zaino Z16, goes on wet and dries dry. Most things stay greasy, this stuff does not.

Love Zaino's products. Expensive, but their polish system makes the paint look like it's wet. So awesome!

I use 303 on my soft tonneau cover for yrs, but when that stuff gets wet (rain) it runs like a motha. I would think using it on the weather stripping would make a mess all over the truck's paint?...especially if it's a dark color.

I use 303 as well, first started using it when I had my Miata.... Lots of sun on the weather seals for the hard top that I wanted to keep in perfect condition. It worked great, and when you can run a hard top convertible through a high pressure car wash without leaks it means your weatherstripping hasn't failed. :)
