Recently put new tires on my 2013 RAM, as a side note, the factory Goodyears made 72,600 miles. The tire shop told me I needed new lug nuts because of lug nut swelling, a condition where lug nut rust pushes out on the chrome lug nut caps. I checked and a 22mm socket would only go on the lugs about halfway down.

To my surprise, the cost for a lug nut was $12.95 each through the dealer. I did find non-capped chrome lug nuts through Amazon for $55 plus $10 for a non-marring impact socket, for all four wheels.

Now the question, I have a lifetime Mopar MaxCare zero deductable warranty on my RAM. I read through the warranty information but there is no verbiage regarding the lug nuts. I guess it will come down to whether a lug nut is a wear item or not.

Anyone been through this with the lug nuts and Maxcare warranty?

I don't know if they're covered or not but I'm guessing they're not,but for $55 bucks,I would just move on and consider you got yourself good deal

Wait--you said the dealer wanted $12.95 per lug nut--x 20=$259. That's crazy!!! Check with Benny at Mopar Parts a vendor here on this site. I bet he can help you out.

It's worse than that, he has a 2500 so he has either 6 or 8 lugs / tire so it's $310.80 or $414.40...

Read the exclusions...it usually states that "corrosion" isn't covered. Since corrosion is causing it....

I bought those for my Charger (which never sees snow) they rusted to **** in a year. Bought Gorilla black lugs for my 2500, got 2 years before they were rusted to ****
Only used the impact on low to spin them down with no “impact”, then torque by hand or broke loose by hand.

I will throw them in the blast cabinet & then powder coat them.

I always smear a little gob of grease on the wheel studs; never had a problem with rusty lug nuts.

I'm going to say no... They have one of the worst written contracts known to man. "Any modification to the truck that wasn't added in the factory".

It literally says, if you add a bed cover they can deny service to you. So yeah, good luck with that.

I would take a look at ebay. I bought a used set for a Ridgeline I had. People buy new wheels and tires right after buying their new truck. I believe I paid 25 shipped for a full set of OE lug nuts. They looked brand new. Nick

I own a 15 Ram with the Maxcare, I just ran the labor op. for lug nuts on my truck, they are not covered under the maxcare

Get the McGard lug nuts they still have lifetime warranty.

The Gorilla lug nuts I have on my truck and the Jeep started to rust pit after one winter and they are no longer lifetime warranty for the OEM style lugs.

The lug nuts have a thin cap over them for appearance. The swelling of this cover occurs because of the corrosion of the cheap metal underneath and the trapping of water between the layers. This is a terrible design and it's the cause of the problem. It should be covered for that reason alone. Polished stainless or even powder coated lug nuts would avoid this problem entirely.
