For my 4” drop in the rear, I had to cut the front spare tire stop off. It was hitting my Nitro diff cover.

Interesting, thanks. I can’t imagine a simple 2” rear drop would affect the cover...

Not sure, but if you hear a loud knock or bang from the rear, you’ll know for certain.

To avoid the possible destructive test, you could measure from the bottom of the curved piece to the top of diff cover and then measure from the axle plate to the bump stop cup. If there’s more clearance on the diff cover to curved pice, you should be in good shape.

You know what, you’re right! I just now realized that the “U” shaped piece from that old thread I pasted in is referring to the piece you cut off and not any part of the actual diff cover.
I was just staring at the pic of the diff cover and scratching my head on where the hell there’s a U shaped piece. Appreciate your insight!

When i installed the Mag-Hytech cover
the salesman told me that under some conditions
The sway bar may need spacers behind it

He never mentioned trimming anything.

It is true that the spare tire equipment could get in the way

Good to know! I will be dropping I just don’t know if it will be a 2” rear or a 2/4. Need to swap my driveshaft before anything else tho.

I did a 2/4 drop without removing the rear bump stops and that ‘U’ shaped piece and I would get a violent bottoming out on big bumps or dips. After driving for about two months I recently got my truck on a lift to check where it’s hitting and the no cut brackets are hitting the bump stops and that ‘U’ shaped piece is hitting the diff.

If you don’t have the Air Lift bags maybe it’s time to get them
I have the no-cut brackets and shorter bump stops and have carried 1500LBS+ in the box and haven’t hit the frame rail or diff- bags pumped to 30psi

Gonna add to this, in case someone in my situation comes across this:

I have helper bags, no cut brackets, and all the goodies everyone rants and raves about. I just noticed tonight my diff cover was getting hit. I do not have bump stops in the rear and will be cutting that piece off to avoid any serious damage as Dallss, TX roads are crap!
