No I’m pretty sure he is strictly referring to the Magnaflow setup which runs about $850.00. The ones I had for $1500 was from Corsa and that included the cost of install.

$1500 to swap muffler in tips? If so I'd have to disagree, I've gone this route on my last two trucks and my costs were:
muffler -$45-50 (obviously this can vary depending on what you get but I love the cherry bomb exteme and have gone with this my last 2 exhausts)
tips- $51/each so around $100 total, and yes for 5" tips. I got them from summit racing and the inlet diameter was slightly bigger but since I'm already taking it to an exhaust shop, I don't worry about that because they can easily make it work. Also should mention the last two times I bought these they were only available in chrome so I did have to paint them myself.
Labor for muffler and tips swap- $150-200, the $150 was a friends deal so to be fair lets go with $200

So my total came out to around $350 installed, plus my time to paint it and the cost of a can of high heat paint.

Definitely cheaper in your example, but add a bit more for Magnaflow muffler and Mopar tips is what we were comparing to. But for $800 I would buy the complete Magnaflow setup.

Yeah the muffler and shop rates are definitely variables, as for the tips I just couldn't justify paying so much more for something that looks exactly the same once installed.

Edit: How much are magnaflow mufflers? I know the cost of swaps vs catbacks has been discussed before but I'm just curious in this case what the cost difference would be.

Well I just got an update for my Magnaflow exhaust order. I’m being told the middle of August before they even begin to ship. Oh well I’m in no rush, but if the Mopar 5” black chrome tips come out before then, this one will be up for sale .

I don’t get it as one company told me they were shipping July 17th for our 2019. Why even advertise it if it’s not actually ready for sale ?

I have placed an email to cancel my order. I’ll wait until vendors actually have these IN stock before attempting to buy again. I’m just getting tired of them saying things are available to buy, send us your money and then we will tell you oh no time soon. :(

Actually the only thing that I wanted was 5” black chrome tips and even though Mopar advertised them as being available, they WERE not !

Why do a full cat-back? You are gaining nothing over just muffler?
The only issue I have with this is choice. I am thinking I want a mbrp this time but auto anything said these universal ones are 30" long. Hell the MF is only 24" but in a bigger case. Could also try a borla. Then there's finding the 5"tips that would be similar to the MF ones. I had a MF on my last truck and while it was nice, the sound got boring to me. I'm not looking for loud, but deep. Mbrp and borla type s seem plausible......

That's kind of what I thought too, unless you want something like that so you can do it yourself at home. Otherwise if you are paying to have it installed anyways then the muffler swap would be much cheaper and wouldn't waste the stock exhaust.

See I read that ours are 3” in and 3” out.d2672c1ef4ee4460c23297f941ddef3a.jpg

I'm sure that must limit muffler selection quite a bit at this time then. At least you can do the tips whenever you can find suitable ones if that's all you're really looking to do.

How much will the mopar tips be when they are available? Cause the ones from summit are only $51 each. I'd think with the savings you could easily have them painted/installed. It was the very first thing I did on my last two rams cause I think the 4" tips look too wimpy. I don't think I'd want to wait several months to replace them, personally.

The oem Mopar one’s are retailing for $297.00 if and WHEN they actually hit the shelf. My problem is I’m being too impatient considering these are 2019 trucks lol.b6ca2edba916f7f53f18eb0285b1cf93.jpg
