Its called Preventive Maintenance = PM, I do PM stuff like cooling system on my diesel at 100K, its cheaper to do PM work at home then then having a problem when away from home...
Very true, but imho, there is no way to tell if your current pump isn’t going to last another 100000 miles or it the new pump will last 4 months and self destruct.

Yeah I change mine out every 100K on all my cars, They are wear items and are dirt cheap.

I dont keep vehicles for 10+ years without PM

I also normally go 200000 miles + in my vehicles. With that logic you should be changing your alternator, ps unit and master cylinder out periodically. My O4 Cummins went well over 240000 miles on the same water pump. Radiator changed out at 90000 miles. The plastic started leaking lol.
