Map Light issues

So there was an older post which discussed a map and vanity light issue where the map lights worked when door open and when dialing all interior lights on. However they would not turn on individually nor did the glove box lights or visor vanity lights work. The discussion was that there was most likely a bare wire causing a short someplace in the visor wiring. Question is would this short be in the wiring inside the visor? Or would it be someplace above the headliner? If in the visor would the easiest fix be to replace the visors? Thanks in advance for any help.

Interesting since my new 18 has a similar issue. The drivers side map light won't turn on by itself, but works when interior light is turn on and when the doors open, etc. I'm supposed to drop it off at the dealership next week so they can figure it out. My glove compartment light works though so might be a different issue.

I didn't have time to drop it off yet, got busy with work. I'll try to get to it this week. They did tell me that if something is wrong they'll just have to replace the whole console since individual parts aren't available.
