Thinking about removing the dealer installed 4" Mopar (Superlift) and go from the 20" wheels to 18s. If I do I will keep the bilsteins and raise the front end to 1.4 or 2.1. My question is would I have any problems with rubbing or anything if I went with a 285/70r18 (33.7x11.2r18) or a 305/65r18 (33.6x12r18) tire?

You cant just remove that lift and go back to stock, they cut the frame to install it

Tire size and bils

Thinking about removing the dealer installed 4" Mopar (Superlift) and go from the 20" wheels to 18s. If I do I will keep the bilsteins and raise the front end to 1.4 or 2.1. My question is what is the largest tire I could run without rubbing or any other issues with bils at 1.4 or 2.1?

Just a heads up, not sure you can remove the 4” lift, pretty sure a portion of the stock lower crossmember is required to be trimmed..............unless you have a plan for that.

Didn't know that. I guess I will be keeping the lift then.

The installation pdf for the kit is online, take a look and you’ll see where/what they cut.

Are you still having tire issues?

Yes all lifts require cutting the frame up front for the drop crossmembers, some even require cutting on the differential as well. Getting a lift on an independent front suspension truck is a permanent decision for the most part.

I've tried Nitto Terra Grappler G2s initially and had a vibration so I swapped those for BFG A/T ko2s and still getting vibrations. I had 4 aluminum hub centric rings made and still have vibrations. Discount Tire has 4 new wheels I will have installed this week. If that doesn't work I don't know what to do next. There is a local guy who says he has a machine that will completely true an out of round tire by shaving it down and he swears he can get rid of the vibrations for me. DT even said they'd pay for it but I'm not sure I want to go that route.

Stinks you’re having issues, have you tried a set of stock rims? I’ve got the same lift and she is smooth as glass running on the stock 20x9’s and 35’s.

Why would you want to remove the lift?
If you are having issues and a dealer installed the lift... climb up their ass and tell them to fix it.
If it wasn’t a dealer, go back to the shop that did it and advise them of the issues and see what the remedy is.
I didn’t know that mopar rebranded a superlift kit as their own...

^ um there are some that do not require massive cutting. But for most lift manufactures it is a comon thing and some take it to extremes. With the 6” I ran on my 02 Silverado 1500- I just had to trim some of the fins off the back side of the diff cover or the transfer case... don’t remember wich one - but it was so a support bracket could wrap around it. I remember looking at kits like fab tech and the amount of cutting that was required and I was like F That.

Yes, dealer installed the lift and it is a rebranded Superlift . I will try the new wheels and if that doesn't work I will go back to the dealer. I would use the factory wheels and 35s but have fender flares (Laramie 1500) and don't want to use spacers to push the wheels flush with flares.

Glad the dealer installed it then. Could be a hassle if an independent shop did it as far as warranty is concerned.

You don’t have to use 35’s, you can use 295/60R20 or 295/65R20 which will give you the height but just slightly narrower to allow the use of factory wheels with no spacers. Talk to your DT about options.

Also if DT is getting you new wheels, have them put on the balance machine without tires mounted to see if they are true, that should at least eliminate that as a potential problem.

If you still have your original tires/wheels I would bolt those up and if it still vibrates then take it to the dealer. My guess is it’s something on lift causing this, could be just needs bolts torqued again. They are suppose to check them after 500 miles.

The dealer checked the lift after 1k miles and all was still tight. DT put the factory wheels/tires on today and it rides real smooth. I left the aftermarket wheels/tires with them so they could put the tires on the new set of wheels and i was going to go back in the morning to have them put on the truck. However, about 2 miles from my house i saw a snake in the road so stopped to shoo it into the grass. Got back in the truck and my brake pedal goes to the floor. Limped it home and apparently the left front wheel rubbed a hole in the brake line during the 45 mile trip back to the house. Called DT and they will pay for the tow, repairs, rental car, everything since they touched it last. Glad it didn't fail on I-24 on the way home in traffic at 75mph.

Hadn't thought about that. We may have saved each others lives. Glad I have always liked and appreciated snakes and not just run over them like too many people do.
