Believe it or not but GM's 4.3 V6 has MDS; drops down from 6 to 4 cylinders under low load conditions so don't give FCA any ideas!

MDS has been in Ram trucks for years with no issues. You can lock it out if you want but I just let it do its thing and have since 2007. It's not worth complaining about for sure.

Both the 3.2 and 3.6 Pentastar engines were designed from the start with MDS in mind.

if you are talking about cylinder deactivation..eco mode..my '07 4x4 avalanche and my '17 sierra 1500 4x4 had it..my '19 laramie has it. I never had any trouble with it.

No, I'm in the way back machine. Late 80's early 90's Caddy's (possibly other GM vehicles) had what they called the 8-6-4. Yes it was cylinder deactivation, but back then they had way more problems than successes. It wasn't received well and it didn't last long, in that iteration of it.

On my 2017 Rebel when I'm on long trips or highways for stretches I let the engine do it's thing.

When I'm in town MDS gets turned off....really hate it in town. On the long road, no issues.

I know this topic gets some impressive screen time, but I'm pretty sure the electro/mechanical cylinder deactivation system on Hemis, is the least of the engine's worries.

We know the cam/lifter issues happen on MDS and non-MDS hemis.

I do now my 2019 classic is the first vehicle I've owned with cylinder deactivation and being a car guy and noticing every noise and feeling, you can REALLY notice when MDS is happening. The only time I disable it is if I'm in a driving situation where I feel it's on/off on/off too much. Other than that I let it do it's thing. If you don't need to waste the fuel, why waste it.

Because of this system and the 8spd of course, if you're the type of driver that can get 23 or better MPG with a Pentastar powered Ram 1500, you'll get 21mpg with the Hemi. Probably not a big deal to some, but to me is amazing for a vehicle this size, weight, with an ancient designed V8.

I have a 20 Limited with the Hemi 5.7 and on my sheet it has a $2,000 option for the e MV. Option trying to look up what that is it says it increases the horsepower to 315 and the talk what does all this mean is it any good question.I correct it the HP is 415

I think today's electronics make it work better, plus VVT and ECU etc
