Hi this is just an informational thread as I hadn't seen anything like this posted before. I had a minor evaporated leak about 6 or 8 weeks ago and cleared the code myself. Well, about a week ago the check engine light came back on so decided not to clear the code again and make a service appointment. Not sure if it was the same code since my scanner doesn't store them but it was another evaporated leak of some sort. Turns out the entire fuel cell needs to be replaced. The issue was not the tank but some line coming from it. The tech said everything was safe and no fuel was leaking leading me to believe it was some other line but could not be replace on its own and rather a new fuel cell was needed to replace it. This is the 26 gallon tank so not sure if the 32 is different in any way. Glad they coiuld find the issue but it is a shame that all this work needs to be done. Everything will be under warranty so no out of pocket to me just time away from the truck I love:)

That’s actually a very common problem, lots of people get it. It’s normally a dry rotted hose around the evap charcoal canister or a bad gas cap. The code comes back occasionally because the trucks computer will do an occasional pressure test of the system and throw a code if it senses a leak

I had that problem. Took all kinds of **** apart, spent hours searching lines, parts, sensors, boots, fittings and connections. For 6 months, I found nothing and the light kept coming back.

One day I saw a post on a forum. One poster suggesting to another that the o-ring seal between the gas cap and filler neck could be leaking.

My filler neck was scratched up by the fuel pump nozzle. I polished it with 600 grit sandpaper, greased the o-ring, and put the cap back on.

The check engine light hasn't come back on in nearly a year.

Last 3 times a friend said the shop needs to replace whole system of something I've found it's usually not the case. Most recently a friend when to dealership with three 3G acura and they said whole rack and pinion needs replaced $700 just for parts. I looked it over and only found p/s inner tie rod was an issue. $15.

Just saying 2nd opinions are good... unless its under warranty then by all means let them give you new parts for free lol

Cheers

Just had the same code on my 2015 1500 come on also with the check fuel cap indicator changed there cap and the purge valve in the engine compartment, still had the code, took it to my local shop and had it smoke tested, turned out to be the leak detection pump was shot, would have been an easy 30 dollar fix, bit I'm good with donating to some local business
