Can someone please help me identify what part of my exhaust I'm missing here? This is right in front of the rear passenger tire that is missing. I drive an '01 1500 with the 5.9 Magnum engine. Is there normally a cat convertor that sits in this area? There doesn't appear to be an O2 sensors going to the area and my truck hasn't thrown any codes. It hasn't actually changed the sound of the truck or performance that I can tell. The prior owner had put on a different muffler than stock but everything else is stock on the exhaust that I'm aware of.

Looks like the muffler is missing. The round bulbous part up toward the transmission is a cat con.

I would say all you are missing is some tail pipe. A 2001 V8 should have at least one O2 sensor before the converter right and left. The 2003 have 2 O2 Sensors with another one behind the Cat but I am not positive about the 2001. Lack of sensor can cause really bad gas mileage unless proper tune has been done.

Is that a turndown facing us , ? If so the muffler was removed on purpose.
