I think it was rumored that the Katana LEDs from Amazon are basically the same thing as the Supernova V4. I might buy a set of them for low beams to try out.

Was curious how the LEDs you try measure up to the 35W Innovited kit. Im guessing the HIDs are better, but not sure if they are better enough to justify more points of failure, possible issues in cold weather, etc.

I'm not a fan of hid's but I'm looking for the brightest combo I can find without dropping a ton of money. I definitely prefer led's over hid's.

In my quads I swapped the locking tab from another set of 9005 led's onto a set of h11 opt7 flux core led's and they work awesome as high beams.

That was another question I had, if you mix and match brands do we end up with color and brightness differences? I already have a set of Hikari (non-Ultra) but the Katanas look intriguing for low AND high beam use.

There might be a very slight color variation between brands. But nothing truly noticeable in my experience

Little change in lighting. I was hooking up my parking lights, using the drl feature of the Hi-Lense for now. Need to make up a jumper with some diodes to use the upper and lower drl lights as parking lights.

Took a quick pic. They almost look as bright as the low's but it was just the angle

I pulled the headlight revolution supernova v3's that I've been running in my quads out to see what it would take to pull the base off and put a h7 base on. There appears to be a small plastic dowel holding it on. So instead of ruining them a set them in to see if I could get them to lock in place with the h7 spring lock. Sure enough, with a small set of needle nose pliers I was able to lock them down. So I'll see what the light output is of these tonight.

Just went outside to see how the v3's looked, once again it's raining so it's hard to get a good idea on just how bright they are. But will be pulling the headlights out tomorrow to redo the parking lights. They are fine until I tried the highs then the drl feature drops out and I get a parking light out message. I was able to get the "harness" with diodes to tie into the drl's so that should solve that problem.

Not the best drawing but this is how the wiring will end up

Got the parking lights figured out and good to go. I decided hid's at this point aren't something that I want to mess with. So returning both the 35w and 55w innovative hid's. Will get a good idea on how the v3's perform tonight on the drive home.

I did order the katana led's to see how they are

KATANA H7 LED Headlight Bulbs - CREE Chips w/Adjustable Beam - 12000Lm 6500K Extremely Bright Conversion Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J5CWZDL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_txD-Cb6G81YAQ

I've seen a few comments saying these are equal to or made by the same company that produces headlight revolution supernova v4's.

So either the v3's need to be positioned differently ( not vertical) or they will not work in projectors. The beam pattern sucked and was like a v shape. Left a giant dark spot in the middle of the road. So driving with just the low beams was almost impossible. Throwing the Hikari led's back in for now. And had a bought of hyper flash. First had a signal light out message then hyper flash. But after a few cycles it stopped

I installed these yesterday

KATANA H7 LED Headlight Bulbs -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J5CWZDL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And initial impressions, they are definitely brighter than the Hikaris. Install is a little harder than the Hikaris because the driver is bigger and the wiring /loom is stiffer. But pulling the headlight h7 connector over into the high beam side and sneaking the waterproof connector from the driver to the led bulb from the high beam side I was able to get everything inside the housing.

I'm still getting the occasional turn signal out messages. Usually go away after a couple of uses. I have some h13 style connector canbus adapters that I may toss on in between the connector for the headlights and the truck's harness to see if that changes anything. Other than being annoying it's not affecting anything.

So after having these in for about a week or so now I'm definitely happy. The katana led's are very nice and I will say a better choice than the Hikaris.

Only thing I'd change on this build is angle the Hi-Lense led's up a few degrees more. I feel that they are slightly to low in their current position

I will be ordering up the Katana's shortly.

Might leave the Hikaris I have now for high beam use instead of letting them take up space on a shelf.

My build is almost complete. A cross of ideas between you and jimmy, I did not go with the HiLens though, personally not a fan of the bumpy look. I did wire in the marker lights so they come on as normal. Used your idea for the H13 male socket as the input to the DRLs, turn signal and power/ground.

Repurposed the grommet the lights came with for the DRL wiring (if you look inside there are 4 small holes, only 1 or 2 of them are punched through but the others punch through easily), so I have incoming wires going through that. Will need something to cover the turn signal socket hole because I dont need to use it now. Might go with a Goretex patch, seems common to let the headlights breathe without letting condensation get in..

Well had a dust cover fall off at some point in the past couple of days. And of course a good amount of rain over the weekend. Noticed some condensation in the passenger side headlight this morning. Pulled it out and noticed I was missing a cover. Looked all over the front end and it's gone. After pulling it out I noticed I had about a cup and a half of water in side the headlight. Emptied it out and it's currently drying. I contacted alpharex in hopes I can get a replacement cover. I do have some rubber hid/led dust covers that will work if I can't get a replacement. But will take a little work to make them fit perfectly.

So quads are back in for now.

Contacted alpharex and they are sending out a replacement cover for free. Guessing it's going to take a week.

Question to anyone who has modded headlights (not just the Modifystreets but that is what Im working with) - with a set of headlights disassembled (unsealed, clear plastic lens separated from housing, etc), is it OK to polish the *inside* of the clear plastic lens?

I have some slight marring in spots of the lens...probably my fault but all I did was use a microfiber to swipe away some leftover dust and manufacturer sealant. The marks dont rub out so I was thinking Meguiars PlastX and very little pressure only in the affected areas. Was just worried there is some sort of coating inside that I would polish away and lead to issues down the road.

Thanks.

The only thing I can think that would happen is it would change the appearance of the lense, maybe take some of the frosted look away. I thought about messing with the lenses to see if I could get rid of the frosted look but was afraid that they'd turn out blotchy.

There is no frosted look on the main lens, is there? Not the DRL lenses, the actual clear one.

Im not even sure I added the marks nor am I sure Ill even see them in use, but since I see them now I figured take care of them while I can, if I can.

Thanks. Im going to put it back together temporarily and light everything up to see if its even an issue. If it is, then Ill polish it (looking for a less aggressive polish if one exists)

I've had that happen too. Seems if I do anything with the headlights, I get the parking/turn bulb out warnings, but like you said, they go away after a few cycles.

I noticed that I would only get the signal out messages when my low's were on. Can't figure out why yet. So for now I made a harness with a resistor for the turns until I can figure out why it only happens when my low's/highs are on.
