Yesterday we had a customer do a before and after dyno with one of our new 85mm Ported Throttle Bodies. I am amazed at the results. His truck s a 2009 with a Vararam Cold air intake, Aero Turbine 3030XL Muffler, Magnaflow Y-pipe, 180* Thermostat, Diablo 93 octane tune, and an electric fan. His first pull with these mods made 301hp/325tq at the rear wheels. After this, he installed our 85mm ported throttle body which took all of 5 minutes. He made 2 more pulls and both were the same...327hp/349tq. That is a gain of 26hp/24tq at the rear wheels with a simple 5 minute modification. It doesnt get much better than that.

Nice gain!

But 301 rwhp with all those mods before the TB seems really low

Thats about right....on the HP. Unlike the cars, the trucks lose about 20% of the crankshaft HP throw the drive tranny.

I know but these trucks stock put out around 305 rwhp. That truck made 301 rwhp with a tune, intake, efan, and exhaust mods

My customer that did the dyno sent me this graph, so I was not there for the dyno. He said that the first pass was with all mods and the only difference between that pull and the 2nd/3rd was the ported TB.

He is in Florida, so the high heat and humidity does not help with dyno numbers. That could help explain the lower before numbers. 26hp is an unusually high gain from a TB alone, so I dont at all expect everyone to show that kind of gain. I would love for someone else to throw one on and take it to the dyno to back the numbers up.

Well, the Vararam is supposedly marketed to add up to 30hp, with no tune needed...so let's say he picked 2/3 (to be a little realistic) of that with the Vararam, thats 20hp...then the 93 tune adds, what... another 30hp...the efan, tstat, muffler and y pipe gains are probably going to be smaller and would only be ballpark guesses on how much HP he free'd up...so lets say between all those mods combined he free'd up 10HP...

So his engine was only making approx 241rwhp before the mods and TB? Trups dyno results showed 305...so ambient temp and humidity can give these trucks a HP swing of 64hp? Or would it be more realistic to say that the mods he installed pre TB showed no gain in HP at all?

Gearing..... Wouldn't that change the numbers also??? if he has a higher gear set than trup, wouldn't that give him lower numbers on the dyno?

i wouldnt be surprised if thats the case, over here when its 105F and 70% humidity the truck runs like crap. i cant even get the tires to chirp, going out at night when the temp is lower the truck feels more responsive but still at 90F its not much of an improvement.

IMHO the 26whp gain seems unrealistic and might be a combination of things, 26WHP is something that you should immediatley feel on the road. Something i did not after installing the ported TB, i will only be able to trul;y tell when i test the truck with and without when it gets colder as the weather at the moment doesnt really help at all.
