Bought a Motorola MA1 for the truck.
Wanted Google Maps, Hey Google and all that stuff, like my phone was
actually plugged into the USB Port but was actually in my pocket.

Found out my old S7 phone was one gen too old to function, with the MA1, so upgraded.
Everything worked, perfectly. but found out I had to have data, blue tooth and Wi-FI enabled, on my phone.
No Biggie.

Fast forward, until couple weeks ago, jumped in my truck, having enabled the Trifecta of connections, on my phone,
and, what? Only phone icon showing up on the radio?
NO Google this or that?

SO, being in a rush, just plugged in my phone and boogied.

Get back in the truck, after leaving my errand, to return home, forgot to plug in my phone
because the MA1 had spoiled me, and what? There's google everything and my phone isn't plugged in.

No loner, in a rush, I checked the MA1. there it is, unplugged. Seems I had accidently unplugged it,
some time or other, when messing around plugging my phone in for a charge.

Hmm, turn off turck, open the door, wait a few seconds, turn off my phone.
Start the truck, Enable blue tooth on my phone, MA1 unplugged.

Radio shows phone icon and phone is connected to radio as a phone only for calls.

Enable Data, on my phone, no change, calls only

Enable wi-fi.few seconds later, google maps shows up,
all features function, without the MA1 being plugged into the truck.

Tried it with an S9+, S10e, S22+,, S23+ 7 S23 Ultra. all work exactly the same.

So, if you want full google features on your 8.4 radio and think you need an MA1, might want to try this, instead:
Enable all three on you phone, Blue Tooth, Data & Wi-fi.
Plug in your phone to teh trucks usb ports.
Unplugg phone form truck
turn off truck.
open your door, wait a few seonds for everything to shut down. start the truck, leaving the phone unplugged, from USB,
and the phone connections trifecta, enabled, on your phone.
Just see if you get everything back up and running.

Might save you the price of an MA1 or similar.

Wish I had not eaded in the S7 so I can see if it would work the same way but its gone.

What year is your truck. I know they somehow enabled wireless Android auto on some newer vehicles not to long ago. My truck is a 15 but I have a newer 8.4 made in 21 so I'll have to give this a try

The profile says 2022 truck, so it could be a combination of newer radio and cellular service access allows the phone to wirelessly pair now since Google constantly updates its software.

Plugging it in doesn't bother me.
Walking away and leaving in the truck, then I got to go out to the garage, in the cold, to get it.
Get int eh garage, start farting around, get cold enough to say done with this, go inside,
only to find out I forgot to get the darn phone, is what bothers me.

GO into the UPS store to return gifts, form the great Amazonian God,
only to leave the phone and all the Return Whateveryou call those black squiggley square box thingy's,
on the phone, in the truck.

thats what bothers me.
