I bought a 2011 2500 Big Horn last weekend because I wanted a diesel. I am a heavy truck mechanic and work on these engines all day. I have not messed with stereos since they had 2 knobs on the front( yah I'm that old :baby: ) and this truck has the premium Alpine system with the subwoofer under the rear seat. I want that space for hunting gear and other things. Has anyone moved the sub to under the front seat, and if so any advise would help. I think I can just make a new mount box and hopefuly move the wires without too much trouble?

There is no way you are moving that sub box to any other location within the truck. your best bet, if you don't care, unhook it and just remove it. I enjoy the alpine system i have in my sport, but i too wish they had found somehwere else to put the sub. Even putting it inside the smaller storage area would have been better......

Kicker makes a sub that can go within the smaller storage are on the passenger side and comes with a small amp. Its a pretty simple hook up with directions, but it runs like $500.

If bass isnt imprtant to you, just ditch the sub.

i agree with ^^ if bass isnt important just take it out.

these subs are designed to play in the box they are in. if you try and build another it will not sound the same.

still too cold here to mess with it, but is it just the speaker on that plate or is there more under there? If it's just a speaker I'll find a way to move it, the bass makes the music! I have had to argue with "engineers" many times over the years in my job. They always say they are given the dimensions of a part and have to get in fit somewhere. They don't care much for the outcome as long as it fits. Thanks for the input!

u can try moving it behind the back seat along the cab wall, i dont know how the the factory wires are but it could work. i have a sport and i put a 10 inch pioneer slim sub/box behind the seat just have to unbolt the seat bottom to have access also u modifiy the seat u can get them to fold down theres alot of hidden storage back there being wasted i have a craftsman 154pc tool set behind rear driver seat tucked away plus the sub/amp behind passenger rear seat and still have a little more room plus all the under seat storage
