It will get better with more miles on the truck, Art.

Also, I'd recommend you try hand calculating MPG to check the EVIC's accuracy. Some aren't as accurate as we would hope or expect.

Short trips kill mpg. Cold engine, idle time, time spent getting to the highway, and in town stuff. I'd love 18 mpg on my gas 2500..

Hand calculate it and see what it comes out to. The Evic numbers are all over the place for some of us. Mine reads 18, I'm actually getting 16.

The average for my Cummins is about 15.6 mpg over the last 35K miles. (mixed driving with some towing in there).

My '17 4x4 single cab long bed CTD mileage has improved over the past 14,000 miles.

I get an easy 20mpg on the freeway if I keep it under 80. I get 18-19 "in town", but I'm fairly rural and there's not much traffic. However, I was shocked by getting 17+ in the hellish stop & go traffic of the Bay Area on a 2 week commute.

Last week I put 360 miles on it from my house outside Little Rock to Dallas Love field. Sunday night, light traffic on mostly all I-30. Texas Speed Limit is 75, so of course I'm doing 83. Hand calculated (full when I left and filled it there) I got 16.8mpg. I'd get better without the 35x12.5x20 tires. And if I'd slow down. LOL!

Edit: The computer said I was getting 18.2. It was wrong.

18 mpg combined on EVIC for a stock truck? That is pretty good for mixed driving. Now if that was from doing 60-65 mph and mostly highway, then I would say you could probably do a little better. What are your expectations?

It almost sounds like he is surprised by the MPG with so few miles on it and a short trip. Honestly 18mpg is great for a fresh motor in a 8300 pound vehicle but then again the lie o meter is probably reading 2-3mpg higher than it actually got.

Best I’ve got was 23.5 on the evic, pen and paper was 22.8. That was after a trip from the buffalo ny area to Norwalk Ohio and back. So majority interstate. But a decent amount of idle time also (takes a bit to get out of an nhra race track with 30,000 others leaving at once)
