I would have to wager your speedo is not 100% correct. Every vehicle I have put larger tires on and had the speedo corrected by a tuner took a few tries of of recalibrating it to get it dead on. I have never had it be exact on the first calibration and always required some configuring to match my GPS devices that tell me how fast I am really going. Then there is the factor that the speedo gets off as you loose tread. Although, one big thing that you just stated is Toyo's, which are known for being the heaviest(and best) tires out there. Heavy tires drain power and mpg due to how much it takes to turn them.

You are absolutely correct about the speedo calibration not being correct. I had to mess with it to get it to line up perfectly with my gps. I'm sure the toyos have a lot to do with it, but I do love the way they work. I may just end up dealing with the mileage as I really do enjoy just about everything else about the truck.

I did a trip down to Connecticut last month from Maine (400 miles one way) and averaged 18.5 on the way down and just over 20 MPG back up. Cruise was usually set around 70 for most of the trip. Three people in the truck with luggage for a week and not towing.

I have a 2014 Laramie 6.4L 4x4 w/ 3.73's. Truck is completely stock with 11,000 miles.

Don't have any pictures to prove it but I am planning to do the same trip again soon. If I remember I will get some EVIC pictures. That is assuming I can do it again.

I have been happy with my fuel mileage in this truck. Usually average around 17-18 on my usual commute. In my previous truck (2010 Tundra DC Rock Warrior) I averaged around the same as well but the Ram offers much better creature comfort and capability.

Sounds like great numbers. Get on fuelly. More accurate than the evic.

Sad part is I have a fuelly account but I don't use it. Had all the intentions to use it on both this truck and my wife's ecodiesel, but I have failed miserably with follow-thru.

Those numbers were hand calculated BTW. Both times the EVIC was optimistic. Down it read just over 19 MPG and back up it read 20.6 MPG.

My truck won't even lie to me and show those kind of numbers. I usally set the cruise at 68 between here and PHX and can't touch those numbers. My MDS barely comes on, unless I am just about coasting downhill, and even then it will cut out if I just touch the foot-feed. It's surprising how much they vary truck to truck.

I did a trip from Connecticut to Albany, NY (124 miles) and averaged 16.8 - I didn't reset for the trip home. Not bad for a beast of a truck!

Are you running oversize tires, or are they stock?

The tires are stock and about due to be replaced. I drive like a grandma. Of those fillups there has probably been a 50/50 mix of running 87 vs 89.

What am I doing wrong?

My fuelly sig says it all. For those south of the border, that's litres per 100Kms. So about 11.5 US MPG average.

*hold for applause*

These numbers are with a 6.4 2500?? You're getting almost 10mpg more than my 1500 gets......... and the average for a 2015 6.4L on fuelly is 12.2mpg. Something doesn't seem right?

EDIT: Just saw that you have a 6.7L Disergard the heavy skepticism.

On the left it says he's in a Cummins.

This thread makes me sad. I pretty much had my wife convinced about trading in her Escape and driving a RAM with the 5.7. This thread makes my stomach churn. Seeing 11-14 on average is a show stopper.

Edit: ONLY because I already drive a low mileage vehicle.

Are you talking about a 5.7 1/2 ton or HD? The new 5.7 1/2 tons are supposedly getting in the upper teens to low twenties. My 6.4L 3500 gets an average 14mpg's with mixed driving (hand calculated) and in the upper teens on flat country roads.

Great point. It would be a half ton.

My fuel mileage is in my sig. Leveled with barely larger tires. And I drive 70% highway under 75mph. Maybe the newer trucks do much better. I love the truck though!

Do you have the new 8-speed transmission? My 2011 1/2-ton had the 6-speed and the best I could get was 17-18. I averaged about 16 with it and I had the 3.55's. I did love the truck, but the payload was really lacking, and the quad cab wouldn't fit a rear-facing car seat behind the front seats.

My son was born, and we decided with a kid, what better time to buy a new truck. Kids are cheap, right?

My 5.7 1/2 ton CC with 8 speed averages 19mpg. Highway is 21 and towing a 7400lb camper between 9-11mpg.
