I would rephrase that to not bad for a gas 2500. That is a normal EVIC mpg for most diesels. I am usually +/- .5 mpg of that combined city and highway driving. Hand calculated, that is another story.
My 2500 crew cab 4X4 average is 15.6 mpg with 3,000 miles in the OD.I am happy with that
I really try to give people the benefit of all doubt but EVERY thread you reply to here it some bash on a gas truck. Or, maybe "bash" is too heavy of a term. It's making a point where a diesel is better. We all get it. Your diesel truck is cool. You spent the money, your truck hauls better and gets better MPGs. That's what you paid for. It's supposed to do that.
Why should the OP "rephrase" anything. He's here to share his experience. Enough with the inferiority complex. Let people talk, share and be heard without being hassled. That's the purpose of this forum.
And save your miles of quotes and personal attacks. I won't read or post further on this thread. You are one of the most informed and knowledgeable regular posters and share GREAT information here. It's just unfortunate when it's diluted by some meaningless agenda.
Pulling my 5000 lb. camper on mostly level 2 lane highway, averaged 10 - 11. I pulled same camper a couple times with a V6 half ton Chevy, 9 mpg. It definitely wasn't enough truck..
Sensitive... I would expect better mileage from a engine that has MDS.
So a V6 yielded 9 mpg and a 6.4 yields 10-11. Seems the v-6 did better than you thought.

Best I ever got was 17.2 hand calculated. The average I see now is around 15. But it's way better than the 9-10 I got in my V-10 2500 Ram. (And I loved that old V-10)
I haven't towed heavy yet, so that'll be an eye opener I'm sure (with regards to mpg's).
Yes it will be an eye opener for sure, but excited to see the result.
I should have bought a 6.4 lol. my 5.7 1500 QCSB averages just under 14. Towing a light 2000 lbs trailer I've not been able to break 11.
Few questions. Do you have oversize tires(larger diameter than stock), and have you ever checked the accuracy of your speedometer?
I have 275/65-20 toyos so barely taller than stock. My speedo is correct via a diablosport trinity. The truck also has a k&n air intake system (was on the truck when I bought it). I've been able to squeeze 17.6 out of it one time but that type of driving is not enjoyable and takes more effort than it's worth to me. I'm most likely going to trade it in for a 6.7 or an ecodiesel in the next year or so. My old '14 CCSB 2500 6.7 4x4 averaged about 17mpg.
