I am new to this forum. I have a 1997 5.9 L Dodge (313K miles!) that I am considering "restoring". Wanted to read up on everyone's experiences here. I love this truck! :) I did post a picture of it but not sure where it is right now!

What is a “sticky”? I see several references to stickies.

It still runs great- but interior is pretty shabby. I’d like to start with dash, header, new visors. Will eventually replace the engine. And transmission. Does that sound too crazy? What do you think about replacing engine and transmission? If there are cool upgrades that strike my fancy I might do that. That’s why I’m on the forum!
Truck is in good shape metal wise. Lived it’s whole life in AZ.
Thanks for the encouraging word!

If you have the time, money and LOVE for your truck? by all means let nothing stand in your way, just remember once you start fixing one thing it almost always leads to something else, so be prepared, good luck in your endeavor and keep us up to date.

Hi Bennyrok. Hope you are doing well. I’ve often thought of your encouraging post those 2.5 or so years ago. Since then I have tackled big and small fix ups on the truck, enjoying it thoroughly especially being able to share with fellow truckers on this forum!
My biggest accomplishment is a complete new dash install! Bought a new plastic under dash (used really) on eBay and a new top and bezel from LMCTRUCK.

Still working on interior when I can keep it running long enough that I think it deserves some cosmetic effort!
328k miles now, running great!
Also installed a new grille.

Won TOTM in March!

Thanks again for that encouragement so long ago!
