I wish you luck. I can't keep from stabbing into my foam board insulation every time I get near it. With that type of insulation I would have it torn down in no time.

Meh, racks and benches cover most area, my in laws shop is this way and has been for like 13 years, my buddies shop is same, no issues for them. I talked about maybe boarding up the bottom 6' with plywood if I have issues but I think I'll be fine

All finished and buttoned up. They will come back for the ceiling and doors once the floor has cured. Our estimator who comes out to decide how much of what you'll need said 1.5" rmax for the doors which would work for unfinished doors but mine are insulated "finished" doors so it wont work. Even though the doors themselves are "insulated" I still want some rigid over them so they are going to swap out the 1.5" for 1" that way we can fit them flush into each section of the door. Our guys say there is no way to attach the rigid to these doors that will work permanently outside of screwing through them (which I'm not doing) but im going to try some of that metal HVAC tape I think. Anyone got any ideas? Our guys ruled out spray adhesives they said they are sure it wont work, and we tried the venture tape they use already and it doesnt stick. Doors have that textured almost thick grain finish. I know screwing would work but I don't want to screw into these doors87684c872d0ad21e0fdf4cf07fd63972.jpg770abb4ea2911e630fb7898732d8c240.jpg81cc4b4356b2fc6717d3e27379818b32.jpg0abe5576cfb2c07c714ea6dda09f3666.jpg

Shop is looking great, many of us here will dream a life time for a space like that. Well done!

I know you're set on rigid install for the doors, but honestly you don't need it at all. Your shop is so well insulated, I don't think the doors will make a difference either way in regards to the thermal capacity of your shop. As others have said here, you'll be able to heat it with a candle. I'd honestly just leave the doors as is, their not meant to be insulated like that, that's why they come pre done like a sandwich panel. Call it good!

I am home today and glad to see a giant crew here, finally stuff is happening on schedule. 4 man electrical crew is here to finish all the electrical and lighting today, and after the wedding they will be back to hard wire the lift and compressor. A little frustrating because my builder assured us nothing had to be left open when insulating except the bottom panel to fix the gas line so our insulators covered everything else, now the electrician of course is saying not the case and he is going to need to pull it off in multiple spots. So when our guys come back out for the ceiling they will have a few spots to fix.
Also the heating guy is here to fix the gas line that failed inspection. The valve has to be outside above grade and he put it inside into my slab, so hes fixing that and I'm assuming the concrete people will fix that when they are here but who knows, it's something I'll be keeping my eye on

ram, sure agree with the others. Shop insulation, over the top, the way you wanted. Surprised to hear that the wall insulation will not be covered. But, sounds like you will be happy. On your garage doors. I would look at the ridged foam door insulation packs that Lowe's sells. Easy to work with. Finished on one side. Big difference. Let me know if you want pics. Fitz

Electrical work is done, they made a mess of my insulation I'm pretty upset about that my builder definitely shouldnt have made us insulate first. Hes going to get a ear full from me. But lights are in and outlets are wired up. 7f010454cda40c258d445e56d4df6cd3.jpg30d8494e72f56fca81594d6851ee9ac2.jpg01defe0dd727fdbe2c73452806b51843.jpg7770b46d7eff7aace88273bf00d5f2e6.jpgf8936cd5324c6bc7183bad37efa1cd64.jpg

Paint got done today, looks soooooo much better not solid white lol now it matches the house [emoji41]. I was wrong about the electrition he is not finished, he did finish the lighting inside as you can see, these lights are amazing If you ask me and these are technically rated for I think it said 24 feet off the ground which is about 10 feet higher then mine haha but there is hardly any spotting on the ground, very happy with these. He also did the outside outlet for me and hot one roll up finished. He still has to finish the other roll up, one outside light, swap out 4 of his dual 110 outlets for 4 quad boxes like was planned and also swap some of the 220 plugs to 4 prong for my welder. Also
Concrete guys came out and filled all the cracks and sanded it down 4d8d936414d4a1a159e384449d86c724.jpg75b200b011f30bb505728ffa518fad3e.jpgad997b5b026e3849695f6f40526365ae.jpg04887b12139c455480417216bb817364.jpg3a8a5146888292133bdc9e2fa5033631.jpg219c8683526cdcaf75453273cdc71e0c.jpg

Yep looking good. Really like the large asphalt transition, entrance. So If I remember, your soon to be wife is going to have the reception in your shop. So lift, work bench's etc will go in after the wedding. The sacrifices you are making. LOL

It looks awesome and I am very interested to see what you do with the floor.

I believe you said it was getting coated as part of your deal with the concrete issues you had.
Kona brown is the stain that was being done with a coating over the top and then a wax. But on that note......f2ad44f74e89407b078925b0d26cc0a3.jpg

I got all the 110 outlets I was supposed to have now, he didnt do quad boxes but instead just doubled up on duals which I'm not a big fan of but whatever, also got my man door led lantern on.
Got both roll ups working now and I really dig these! Got the wireless remotes synced and I installed them in my garage so I can operate the roll ups from my garage and also have the vehicle remotes. Then the hard wired units in the shop are sweet they have led screen that tells you the time and what temperature it is and the charge on the backup battery. Pretty cool, and very quite.

Were they supposed to be quad outlets? If so, I’d make his ass come out and do it right! Otherwise my jealousy factor is through the roof! Looks amazing brother!!!

Every other set of 110's were supposed to be quad boxes yes. But honestly I'm so exhausted with this whole deal that it's not a big enough deal for me to bring it up.
I've been arguing with my builder and the concrete company and the door people for weeks now and I'm just burned out after the house and this.

I honestly think that sometimes they try on purpose to wear you down. Contractors seem to be a different "breed". There are some really good ones that are pretty responsive to your "instructions" and there are others that it is like pulling teeth to get them to do what you(the paying customer) wants done. I usually go from 0 to really pissed off when I deal with some of them. I feel your pain----
