Really upset. Got home today and all the blankets were removed so I was stoked to check out my slab, only to find the entire slab is cracked everywhere [emoji2959]. They did not rebar it, so they were supposed to put release joints in to have controlled cracking but they did not. But a even worse possibility is that the concrete froze [emoji51] 01fce478df04a308c6a2b3c699672e87.jpg377bd1e008dff825f36072e4165f62c2.jpgfaa4948742a229ed6b115cec1d20db7b.jpg9ac136121091fd72fa127e3acd14887b.jpg

I would say that's on the contractor. They should know better. Sorry to see that.

Wow man sorry to hear that. Have you talked to them yet? Weird that they did the cement before finishing the building, of all the videos I've watched so far they complete the building and then come put in the cement after. I know cement usually needs 3 to 4 days above 40 to cure properly. What has your temps been?

Sometimes the cement plant gets a bad mix. Too much curing agent.

Ramportin1. Very sorry to hear the "contractor FU" On them. No rebar AND no expansion joints. Acceptable in Mexico not in your shop. Been following. Confused. Contract said 40x64 finished for $47,740 That would be 2560 sq' at $18.65 per ' Did you scale the shop back. Staying positive that contractor will own this problem and do what is right.

That wasnt my shop that was another member just showing his bid, different state so his prices were amazing compared to mine. Yeah my best friend owns a concrete company so I immediately showed him and he picked it apart [emoji37]

I've been talking to my builder about it and it's not going well so far, we are basically arguing back and forth

So sorry to see this, I hope your contractor is not too far ahead of the job in payments because the only acceptable lasting cure for this type of failure is removal and re-pour.

Sadly that was just shell of building, doors, and ceiling done. That quote didn't include electrical, cement, heat, site prep and all the other things your bid included. I really hope they do you right with that cement tho man

After arguing back and forth all morning lol my builder said his flat work guy is coming out on Monday to inspect it and he said if it's bad they will re pour. SUPER frustrating that he has been trying to argue with me about the work that was done, but we will see what happens on Monday. I'm not going to accept nothing being done about it that's for sure, repour or a free epoxy coating. My friend who's done concrete his whole life looked at it my pictures and said as long as it didnt freeze then integrity wise it's fine, but only a epoxy coating will work because of it being pliable where as any other coating will just start to crack away between all the slabs cracks. But temps here have been down to around 26 degrees at night so my friend is worried that it froze. Idk I'll update Monday after the guy comes out to inspect it

I just knew you would "smart handle " this. I have a better feeling now that the contractor want's to come out and see what is obvious. Stay cool and firm.

I feel a little better now, my builder finally stopped arguing and said I'm right, his job is to ensure the work I get is good so he will take care of it [emoji1305]

I wouldn't accept anything other than new concrete because if you epoxy coated and there's future issues then it's going to be sorry about your luck. It's a shame that every project seems to have one or more catastrophe. it prevents me from taking on more things because it gets really old after so many times. So sorry your project went that way I can relate.
