My homemade topper lift

Because I am cheap I thought I would build my own topper lift they are 2300 dollars and come with canvas walls we camp in grizzly bear country so I want something a bit stronger i got 4 -12volt trailer jack and modified them I made a2 inch by 2 inch 1/4 angle iron frame for the cap to bolt to for now I will use plywood for the wall’s

The jacks are good for 2500 pounds each

That almost looks like the topper lift that someone made for the Rambox Rams

I looked at the e-z topper lift on the inter web and just kind of stole their idea theirs is better mine is cheaper lol

The jacks give 18 inch’s of lift one of the problems I have run in to is full length solid walls is that they don’t fit in the back I will have to make them so that they fold in half

The back door is going to take some figuring plus the electrical for the solar panels I want to add

My original plan was to make sheet metal walls but wood is cheaper and easier to get

Why do you need the lift w/o RamBoxes... stand up room for camping?

Yes and a little more headroom

We slept in the back of the truck last year it was ok but I want to use my heater and wanted a little more room I am 6 ft I can stand in it on the high end

So finished the walls tomorrow back doors I got it going up and down on all four corners at the same time

So finished tying the walls together and made the doors the bed and under storage are next

It’s a little rough but it will work

So more progress bed is finished the topper goes up and down it is controlled side to because the jacks don’t all work at the same speed.my daughter painted the mural on one of the walls she will do the other wall and back door later it’s time to go camping

I have 2 12 volt battery to power my fridge and heater and lift for now I will charge the battery at home and take my little generator and battery charger

Finally got to go on a road trip went from Edmonton Alberta to waterton lakes park got pretty good mileage saw some critters

really digging this idea. im about to start pricing this vs linear actuators like topperlift uses. i’m all for building it DIY.

did you tie all the jacks into one switch?
