Just like sicmadek today, I had an issue with my tranny on Wednesday. With only 2000 miles on my truck, I had to pull over to help my grand-daughter with a seat belt issue. When I did, the tranny would not go into park and the truck shut off. The light on the knob was blinking and a message about servicing the tranny came up. I couldn't do anything with the truck and I couldn't even turn the key to the off position. I restarted the truck twice, but it would just shut back off. I put the parking brake on and called assist. As I was talking to them, maybe a few minutes, I noticed that the blinking light was now solid. I was able to then remove the key. I started the truck up and it ran just fine, no check engine light or anything. I ran it down to my Dodge dealership only 2 miles away, and they said it threw a code - they never did tell me anything about the code, but that the code hadn't been banked yet. They downloaded the newest software update for the tranny with the hope I don't have another problem. Anyone have knowledge as to what might have happened. The only thing that I remember doing was unbuckling my seat belt before I came to a stop. I sincerely hope that wasn't the cause as that would be totally dangerous as the truck shut off. Can you imagine someone unbuckling to reach for something (I know this is very dangerous as well, but people do it) and the truck totally shuts down? Any thoughts?
