Ole Bessy had to put in some work yesterday. Picked up a new boat trailer for my father and went and swapped the boat over to the new trailer. 7400lb boat loaded. Not sure of the trailer weight. The trailer itself squatted the rear of my truck almost an inch. She pulled the boat up the ramp no issues though and made it the 30 minute ride home. Was a great test for that new fan I installed. Engine temp hovered around 195-199° most of the trip. Oil temp plateaued at 210°. Trans hovered between 156-160°. My new shocks had no issue with the extra weight either and the truck handled very well given the circumstances.
Edit: just found out the trailer is 1900lbs. So 9300lbs total. Gosh dang.

She's a heavy one... Nice squat. At least it has a reason.. :)

Just installed the PPE transmission pan. definitely not hard but very annoying. Thankfully my truck is lifted so it gave me some wiggle room. Was about 3 hours from start to finish including the break in the middle. Pretty happy with the quality and the fact that it reuses the stock gasket. I installed a new factory gasket since they’re fairly inexpensive anyways. Truck took just over 7.5 qts to fill. Will let everything cool off then I’ll check again another time to make sure the fluid is at the proper level.
Edit: it was officially 8 quarts of oil to fill with the ppe pan.

Going to give this a shot. This took the entire 50’ roll. I did wrap it with 1/2 overlap so it’s basically 2 layers all the way. Really hoping this helps the transmission temps drop since doing the ppe pan. Been seeing 158-161° oil temps after the pan vs 154-156° with the plastic pan.

My luck. Got 50 miles into a 500 mile round trip and my truck throws a check electronic braking on my dash and I can’t use cruise control. I forgot my scanner so can’t even check what it is.

Hopefully just something simple like the controller...
Last time was a bad wheel speed sensor. Passenger front. It went away for a minute or two halfway into the trip then came back. I’ll have to hook up the scanner when I get the chance

Haven’t hooked the scanner up yet but I think whatever is causing my clunking and service EBS is in my steering. Hoping it’s nothing too serious. I noticed while out on our trip that my passenger front tire appeared to be toe in and had negative camber depending on how and where I parked. My steering wheel is somehow crooked to the passenger side and driving straight or to the passenger side depending on the road crown. I had an alignment done a few months back with no complaints. Something is going *****. The service EBS went away a few times while I was driving and it always happened when the truck appeared to be driving straight. Will have to tear into the entire front end this weekend and see why my alignment is off.
So apparently the site does not like the word F ubar

I’m going to jack the front up this weekend. I don’t think it’s a wheel bearing because it’s been doing the clunking for quite a while and I’ve checked everything out before and never found anything. My cam adjustment bolts on the passenger side look like they may have shifted. The rear one is sitting farther out than any of the others. I’ve been wondering if it’s in the steering rack but I’d think if it was the rack there would be play in the wheels. Coming back from the grocery store I went to reverse and it popped. Wheels were still straight. It’s very mind boggling
Sounds like a wheel bearing then.

Rack wouldn't affect camber though.
Good news and bad news. The EBS code was c0051 which is steering wheel position sensor and I have an EPS code as well U0415 implausible data received from abs. So whatever appears to be messing up my alignment may be causing some wacky computer readings. It’s too hot to jack the truck up right now so I’ll get to it later in the week later at night. How can I read steering wheel angle through the computer.
Edit: I found it in the obd link app. Next time I go for a drive I’m going to check it. Anyone know where the truck reads the steering wheel angle from? Is it part of the clock spring?

Ok. So I need to figure out how to reset my steering angle. It shows 10° off when the wheel is centered. I figured out the clunking. The dealer did my alignment last. I found the passenger rear cam bolt was not tightened down well so my alignment was floating around. Going in to 4wp this week to get my alignment fixed. I did a driveway alignment for the time being. Will see if 4wp can reset my steering angle sensor too. That may be causing my truck to pull since it thinks I’m always turning slightly.
