A place here called LKQ has a stock 6.4 out of a 2018 with 2 year warranty for $6,850 and $1,500 to swap it.

Jesus Christ. And I thought I was getting ***** at 6k for my 4.7, installed, brand new engine.
Screw these new vehicles. Selling my truck when it hits 34k miles and buying an old carburetor powered 318 truck. You could fix anything with a hammer, coat hanger, and some duct tape.

Yeah, that sounds crazy expensive for a used engine but I suppose the warranty helps.

I would shove what ever you can in it, drive until that warranty expires then trade it. Just my opinion.

If I was in your shoes dealing with what you are dealing with I would likely brand jump.

I really like my truck. And the fact that it's almost paid off is even worse. Lol. Buying a Chevy is out of the question. Price wise. Not even gonna think about it. They half tons cost what a ram ¾ ton does. Lol.

Maybe trade it at a different dealer for a different ram?

Mine is a 2015 mfr date 3 weeks out of the TSB dates and Ram refuses to do anything with it. Sounds like a diesel on a cold start but it doesn’t have filings in the oil pan so they say it’s ok. That’s what the SM at Larson CDJR told me. Wait to see if I run out of warranty or motor first on a new truck.

you guys with your oil mixes make me laugh !! You do more damage than good doing that. You obviously do not understand the chemical environment of oil, nature or man made.

I’m sorry, my best friend has a degree in Chemical Engineering and happens to work for a very large oil company. (Not Amsoil or Redline). That’s where I get most of my information, where do you get yours?

that's it, palm it off on someone else, and smile on the way home, NOPE!!

What exactly is he pawning off? Once he gets a new motor in it?.. you thought I meant be shady.. I see. No scenario where he trades it in is shady, it either goes in with a new motor or it goes in on a flat bad for trade. We aren’t responsible for what dealers do or don’t do.

This is the exact reason I kept my 01 Ram 2500 360 with 420,000 miles factory motor and trans and the guy who had it before me (my pap) changed the oil every 10K. If my 6.4 every did that I would get a new engine or RAM would be meeting my friend colt;)
