Let me first say that I am nowhere near being a mechanic.

I changed the battery last weekend when the previous one died. The next morning the truck would not start. I came back in the evening and it started right up. Next morning I go out to leave for work and the truck won't start. Each time it will turn over but not crank. Fuel pump is good and starter is turning the engine over.

The third day I shifted to neutral first and it started right up. I put it in park and it started again but the RPMs were extremely weak and it died after a few seconds. After that I couldn't get it to start again. Came out the next morning and it wouldn't start in park or neutral. I turn the key to the on position and move the gear shifter through all the gears and then back to neutral before I try to start every time.

I am thinking the neutral safety switch but wanted to get some other opinions. Thanks.

The neutral safety switch will prevent it from turning over at all.
I would check for any codes first. Other than the start and then stall, it sounds almost like a bad camshaft position sensor. Definitely try to get a scan tool and check for any trouble codes though.

Thanks. I got an OBDII code reader and no codes were found. Should there be any other symptoms if its the camshaft positioning sensor?

Sometimes and I've seen this happen before, check your terminals, make sure they are clean and tight. Sometimes it's just that simple. The reason I say this is because you just changed your battery.

Cables. Connections. Terminals. Especially starter terminals. Just went through this exact thing on my '08 Denali.

I would also check any relays . I had a Chevy that started doing that and it was the relay I could pull it out and stick it back in and it would start . I would go to work and in the afternoon it would do it again.
