Need helping figuring out 2011 factory suspension please.

Hey everyone. I have a 2011 ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 5.7 factory 20 275 65 wheels.

I would like to order quick struts for the front and new coils and shocks for the year.

My build sheet says it has heavy duty suspension package. Everyone says the suspensions are the same for all the 1500 SLT trucks. But I notice the trucks have 2 different ride heights from the factory. Mine sits higher. I can put a tall can of beer on the tire. But some of the 4x4 sit low like they are 2wd. There is no room to put a tall can on the tire.

Does anyone know what factory heavy duty suspension means? Do I have to order a specific quick strut. Or did they just put a level kit or spacer to sit the truck higher. I want to keep the truck the same. Just freshjng it up to keep it tip top for the next 6-8 years.

Most likely you have a 1” factory lift, which is achieved via 1” taller rear springs and preloaded front struts.

Here’s raised ride height strut (left) next to a standard strut on the right, just moves the lower spring perch further up on the shock body to preload the spring and gain the approximate one inch.

You’ll want to match that with your new aftermarket strut, bilstein 5100 set to the second lowest setting or bilstein 4600 set to the highest setting will do exactly that. Rancho quick lifts don’t have a great reputation

If it was me, i would order 6112s with springs pre built to the ride height. A bit more expensive but given it's an 11, your front springs are probably tired about this point and you can be assured of getting exactly what you want.

The 6112s are bigger than the 5100s but install the same.

The coils on the 6112s look smaller then the factory coils. That unit looks like it you fit inside the factory coil. Is it ment to be like that. Having 2 two coils. Or is that the whole unit.

The spring is thicker and wound tighter, the ride is better than stock and you have multiple possibilities for ride height.

With 6112s, you can order them fully loaded and ready to install. They do 100% of the set up. With 5100 struts, you use a lot of your stock strut, such as the bottom, the spring and the top. Which means you have to disassemble you stock struts to mount the 5100s. I guess you could order them fully loaded but I've never seen that option on 5100s.

6112s as compared to stock, is like comparing the ride of a TRX to a Ford Ranger.

One is going to put a big smile on your face, the other not so much.
