I'm in the process of ordering new gear set for for my 2004 Ram 2500 5.7.

I've decided on Yukons and thinking 4.56 gears with 35" tires and 5spd auto would be about right.

Should I consider 4.88's ?

Truck is not a daily driver and is used mainly to pull an RV.

Your 35" tires will have a diameter of about 34". The RFE545 will give you the following rpms at 65 mph.

4.56

3rd = 4892 rpm
4th = 2929 rpm
5th = 2197 rpm
6th = 1963 rpm

4.88

3rd = 5235 rpm
4th = 3135 rpm
5th = 2351 rpm
6th = 2100 rpm

I think the 4.88 will make towing much easier. Just keep your speed at 65 or below. Your mpg is going to suck with either combination.

Thanks for the replies.

Mpg is for the wife.....I own lifted Jeeps with 4.0's so gas mileage is never a consideration.
