I’m new here so I apologize in advance if this isn’t the place to put this question. I have a 2003 Ram 2500 Quadcab 4x4 V10 with 200,000 miles. The transmission lasted until about 150,000. Then I had it rebuilt. But now 50,000 miles later it seems as if it is going out again. I was wondering if I should/can update to an Allison transmission? I pull trailers and it is a working truck so I need a reliable transmission. Let me know what your thoughts are. I’m looking for ideas. Just an FYI I purchased this truck brand new and speced it out the way I wanted it. Thanks in advance!

Did they replace the pump and converter when it was rebuilt the first time? A good solid rebuild with a new HD pump and torque converter should be all you need. Especially if you got 150K trouble free miles in the beginning.

Not easily. A good rebuilt 48RE should've lasted at least another 100,000 miles or more.
