So, long story short my 14 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 short bed 6.7l ctd is shredding injector fuel pumps.(that's the one on the front of the engine that feeds the common rail) and 3 different dealers, the dodge "help" line and Cummins themselves won't help me.

Each pump is 1,000 buck and most of the front of the truck gets taken off to replace resulting in close to another grand in labor..

The truck doesn't run right, misses, hesitates, makes an indescribable high pitch rattle over the engine noise, etc. I'm honestly feeling snake bit on the ctd ram but I know the truck itself is awesome.

Does anyone here have any reason why going to a 14 3500 dually 4x4 crew cab with Aisin and 3.73 gearing is a bad move? Does anyone know of any real issues with it? I know the current iteration is fairly new so I'm looking for subjective opinions from you all about the durability of the aisin.

Your not complaining enough. A 2014 already needing that much labor? I'd call a lawyer. Maybe this is a case of lemon law

also, on a 2014, wouldn't this be covered under warranty?

His sig says his truck is a 2011, maybe the 2014 in the op is a typo?

I bought the '14 in February and posted about it. I just haven't changed my sig.

As for complaining, I've done LOTS of complaining, driving the 40 miles to the dealer a couple times a week since April. They have replaced the fuel pump under warranty a couple times after I lost my temper (something I try to avoid because I'm 6'5 and go a solid 300 and all that does is make people feel threatened).

In the end it just keeps having them die and everyone at all 3 dealerships say (and this is a direct quote) "Its not throwing a code so there is nothing we can do." My reply "fuel pumps don't have sensors so they can't throw a code." And they reply every time "Well if it doesn't throw a code we can't replace it." And around this conversation goes untik the guy is in real jeapordy of being damaged to the point he might actually throw a code.

What my lawyer has said is that the lemon law process is lengthy and there is no guarantee I will win. He says take the money the offered on my truck (full NADA value which is actually what I paid for it almost) and get something else. Quick and easy and I will not end up with another 2500 . I could use a 3500 honestly.

If not a ram with aisin transmission then probably a GMC. What I need most is constructive thoughts on the ram with the aisin and any issues anyone knows about.

I don't know much about HDs but honestly, principles and good customer service aside, if you're not losing money on your 2500 and can afford the 3500 with that bulletproof transmission, I'd go for it. Not a lot of people have life giving them a chance to get their dream truck without taking a huge loss:favorites13:

p.s - that "no code" statement is b.s, if you can hear the problem that explicitly, its obvious it isnt right. By that logic, if my driveshaft starts vibrating badly, which is a sign of possible failure, they can refuse to fix it because I dont have CEL? lol wtf.

Try calling a local speed shop that specializes in Cummins motors first and see what they say. If there are a lot of hot rod diesels in your area there is probably a shop close. I can almost guarantee they probably know more about that fuel system than the dealer does. No offense to the techs on here, but most dealer techs...... aren't on here. It may be a cheaper fix for the speed shop to repair it properly than what you may lose on trading that puppy in. I had to throw money at my truck a while back with a brake issue that my dealer could not figure out. I did not want to trade the truck in and let some innocent mother with kids inherit a very dangerous brake problem that might have surfaced on her the first time she jumped in traffic. I was at least aware of it so I was ok with it. If you love your truck, it's worth a couple of phone calls. It probably isn't the pumps themselves, right? What drives them, etc? Good luck!!!!!

I am surprised you have 3 dealerships to go to, you must be driving all over up there. My philosophy is if you are having this many issues with your current truck, what happens if your next truck has problems? Obviously you can't rely on your local dealers, you can't rely on ram customer service, so you will spend another 50k on a truck just to potentially have the same problems later on. I have yet to find a Ford or Chrysler dealer worth anything, they all just give you the runaround until you give up trying to have your vehicle fixed.

To be honest if I was having that many problems with a brand new ctd I don't think I would get another. And no cel we can't fix it is just bs they don't know what they are doing. You should get the service manager to ride with you while the problem is happening if possible... They never act up when you want them to. It is sad to hear how some people are treated when they buy a 50k+ truck you would think they would treat you little Better. But if you can get into another upgraded truck without loseing a arm and leg it would be nice to get rid of the problem truck. Good luck.

Something else is wrong, the CP3 (high pressure injector pump) is very reliable gear driven unit that can go 100's of thousands of miles with no issues. I can see on a very rare occasion Maybe one going bad, but it doesn't happen often but not 3. So if in fact it is your pump failing it is from some other cause. The Cp3 is cooled and lubricated by Diesel fuel as it runs, it does not like any water of fuel contamination. So either you have a supply problem, fuel quality problem, or something somewhere is entering the fuel. The next really bad issue is its downstream of both your fuel filters, and when they go bad they can send debris directly to your very expensive injectors.

Good luck, but you need to find a good tech who wants to solve your issue not throw parts at it. CP3's don't self destruct for no reason.

As for the Aisin you need to drive one as well as a 3500, your rear suspension is different and the Aisin gearing and the tuning on the 6.7 specifically Torque Management seems changed. Bottom line the truck will drive different than your 68 equipped truck and you need some seat time to make sure YOU like the ride/drive.
