After 2,200 miles my truck is showing the ETC light. It wants to idle at 1,200 -2,000 rpms. It tends to accelerate while not touching the pedals. I control the speed with the trans and brakes. This is not good. I am very discouraged. I drove a Ford for 20 years and never had any problems that could get me killed.

No code pulling.
I did not plan to worry about codes on an engine with 2,200 miles.

I'd get the codes read to determine what's wrong. It could be a simple fix.

Have you taken it to the dealer? It's a brand new truck with a warranty, take advantage of it. They will fix it at no charge to you.

Scheduled dealer to look at it. The next problem is driving it there.

Is the dealership you purchased it from close to you? If so they should be able to tow it to them free also. especially as it is a safety issue to drive it.

Problem seems to have corrected itself. I was not able to reset the warning lights. Drove it to the dealer today with no problems.

The code that came up says that the brake and accelerator were applied at the same time. The service tech says the system is very sensitive. Even a 1-2% application of the accelerator when the brake is applied will trigger the warning symbol and the display requiring service. Keep this in mind if you drive an automatic with two feet.

Just another way to get people separated from the money. There’s no reason for this programming on these trucks or any vehicle for that matter.

so you think..
Just about all new vehicles built nowadays with drive-by-wire has this type of programming as a safety feature in case the electric throttle thinks your stepping on the accelerator.
With a diesel like the Cummins can push through their brakes and it saves the excessive amount of torque from tearing up the transmission.

I was until the other poster veered off. And yes, drive by wire is crappy. Always has been, always will be. There is ZERO reason for any throttle delay! People need to pay attention to what they are doing. It’s no wonder there’s warning labels on everything!
