I swear I hear a clunk myself occasionally, but I'm not convinced yet to take it in. I began searching for this mysterious clunk noise on the new Rams, and I've found a string of posts regarding the Cab and the bolts that hold it to the frame. Something about the bushing or bolts not being tight, and the noise you're hearing the cab itself clunking.

I’ve been ignoring it until you made that statement, guess I’ll get under there with the torque wrench and tighten it all down.

I don't get how a "bad batch" would be the problem if the " new batch" did the same thing... Anyone find a aftermarket mount that fixes issue.... Tim u said it was fixed but now came back so if it is the mounts they need to update them or fix or find new ones and get a recall going

I agree - recall. I'd also be interested if someone knows of after market mounts..

When you take it in for the service dept to check the noise make sure you let the truck sit for awhile when you get there. Also, get some foam and stuff it in the rear seat belts where they come out of the pillar. I noticed the rear seat belt locking pendulum bangs as well. Lock all your seat belts into the seats so they don't bang against the pillars. I noticed the clunks are worse when I first drive the truck. I assume if some sort of hydraulic fluid is in these mounts it settles while sitting awhile and then when you drive around it pumps up or damps better. Regardless, take it in and get it checked so you have a first contact record. I learned that the hard way in waiting too long to get my last truck looked at with a defect. In a buyback there's a formula used for "good miles". Cost me $6k toward the buyback driving the truck with the problem too long. I'm going to stay on top of this one this time.

I mentioned in another post why don't they go back to the last gen mounts? It took me a long time to get used to a diesel truck that now sounds like a car. Is it really worth this kind of problem?

Would it be possible to just buy the mounts for the 4th gen trucks and install them on the new trucks?

Not sure if I mentioned this before but my rear mounts don’t look like the other cab mounts. They look more like the old ones. Anybody else’s like this?

Drove 250 miles to the dealer yesterday and the mechanic said my cab mount attachment bolts were loose. He wrote up in the work order that he tightened the bolts to the correct torque and drove the truck. He wrote, noise is now gone. Welllllll, no its not. At least with this visit I established first contact on the issue with 2800 miles on the truck toward a potential buyback. I'll return there again after the rains subside this week. I went there also for the tranny recall but they screwed me on that too. If this was a tv purchased from Walmart I could've simply taken it back for a total refund. All this having just turned in my 2017 Ram 2500 diesel in a buyback.

First post. I've been lurking awile.
2019 2500 Laramie Hemi. 65k sticker.
Manufactured July. It's been clunking since I bought it December 6th....
I haven't tried the dealership yet, but I was going to hit them up first service which is soon. We'll see what happens.

Hi Mark from Ramcares,
Does Ramcares do anything more here than ask folks to go private with you? If you have an answer, maybe a TSB on this issue could you kindly provide it for the nice people here? Reason I ask is it would be a nice change of business practice if a car manufacturer would take care of defects like this head on. What I mean is if parts aren't available yet, let us know here, not a PM. This helps your company toward better public relations by not making us go to the dealership one by one just to go through what I just went through and Tim G has been going through and still is. I know the dance, went through it with my last truck. I believe as customers we have a reasonable expectation that a defect can occur and it takes time to redo the defective parts. Just tell us you're working on the issue and when replacement parts will become available. Maybe answer FirstRam 1980 question if the last gen version, good ones, will fit this model year. I think a lot of us would be comfortable having those installed if they do. The worst thing a vehicle manufacturer can do is never change the defective part and force the customer to put on new ones until they break, then have to keep using them again and again until hopefully an aftermarket one becomes available. Remind you of Ford's recent problem using this same design? I assume since my truck came off the assembly line new with these defective mounts that the design is junk and no amount of changing them with same will fix the problem. Sound like that Einstein saying?

I think they are hoping we figure it out for them. Dealer service departments are useless unless it’s a buy the books fix. To ask them to diagnose a problem, even though it’s well documented is useless.

Anyways, noticed my A and B piller mounts are the new looking mounts but the C piller mounts where the rattle is supposedly coming from are different, they look like the old mounts. Is this on everyone else’s trucks? (I’ll try to post some pics tomorrow) Also, I know it’s been done before (no video posted) on one of these forums but I want to get a go pro mounted underneath the cab to confirm it’s the mounts.

If it is the mounts I’d rather replace them myself, as trying to explain this to the dealer would be more stressful than doing it myself. So knowing if the 4th gen aftermarket mounts would work would be nice.

Hi @JoeSee,
Thank you for taking the time to reach out with this statement. I certainly understand your frustration. As our team here is not mechanically trained, we are unfortunately unable to speculate regarding vehicle concerns and do rely on the findings of our dealer partners. Please know that we request for customers to come into PMs with us in order to exchange personal information such as VIN or contact info. If you are interested in coming into PMs to provide your VIN, I am more than happy to search for any applicable TSBs. Additionally, we are more than happy to get you connected with a specialist for further support as you address this with your dealer.

I traded my '17 Ram Mega Cab in for a '19 and have had the rattling that sounds like it is coming from behind the backseat since I drove it off the lot. I went through everything inside and underneath of the truck securing everything that could create a rattle and it is still there. I mounted a GoPro under the truck filming the left c pillar cab mount, is this the same noise that everyone else is hearing?

That sounds like the noise - like Cummins3, I'm only hearing it when I'm inside the cab. But it's like that clunk then rattle sound over small bumps. Crappy can mounts like they told me? What do you think after this experiment?
