How is the Toyota 5.7 on mileage, I have a friend who is not doing well.
A bit of a gas sucker....

They are down at least 3 to 4 mpg on the Hemi, which is already down 2 to 3 compared to Ford and GM. Combine no VVT with a 4.30 and a 6 speed and that's what you get.

I didn't think I'd have to explain it..

I'm thinking they're both going to land in the same area, right above chassis and steering components.

Certainly your kiwki-loob tech will know.
Since I have been in the automotive repair business over 50 years I can clearly see it is not located over steering and cross member. Sorry for your oversight.
That’s why I said same as what. I don’t have any loob techs working for me. Nor do I want any.

My Toyota has 130,000 miles on it now. It is a 2007, and I am getting 18 miles per gallon driving from Tucson to Phoenix at 70 miles per hour.hand Calculated. When I pull my 8000 lb Trailer I average 6.7-7.2 miles per gallon here In the Arizona mountains. So I think the engine is just breaking in now. When I pull the same trailer with my power wagon It averages the same gas mileage. My 2018 power wagon has 22,000 miles on it. Just a side note both trucks are running 295x70x17's on the ram and 295x70x18 on the tundra. The ram has 4-10 gears the tundra has 4-30 gears.
except the power wagon is bigger heavier and also has a bigger engine lol.

But the neighborhood kids are such cheap labor for lube work! It's pretty scary when you see dealerships with them. Soooo many horror stories. Most recently, my niece went in for oil change @ dealership. Low oil light came on afterward. Dipstick showed no oil. Put oil in, started it up, oil spewing out from underneath. Her dad comes over (certified mechanic), finds the lube monkeys had overtightened the early oil filter such that the gasket extruded out of the filter, they didn't notice it (or care or know what to do), then put the new filter on. The double gasket did not seal (prob from overtightening) and leaked oil.

That's almost as bad as a friend where they didn't tighten the drain plug and it vibrated out.

Boy, that's not much mileage improvement for all the new development work for a completely new engine architecture.

If you read more about the new I-6, the big thing is the lower CO2 emissions with
the engine. That helps with the EPA.

As mentioned above, mileage varies with all vehicles depending on how heavy the foot is........

True, but with it's HP and torque numbers, I suppose we can't really compare it to the 3.6L pentastar or 5.7 hemi.

So curious how they're going to roll it out eventually in the Ram 1500. Is it going to replace the pentastar or hemi? Is it going to be the base engine or an option? Is the oil filter going to drip oil all over the EPS and chassis.. I'm kidding on that.. mostly.
