Every lifter failure I can think of was on synthetic oil; you’re the first I know of that had a failure on either conventional or synthetic blend. We’re seeing lifter failures across the board and over multiple viscosities.
What’s interesting is yours failed at 83k, that’s in the lifter failure window. Seeing most between 60k-100k, with a few around 120k. Not sure where we go from here collectively.
I’m just happy your getting a new motor!
is that really true? im no mechanic and everything i know was learned from this forum. from what i have learned is that most failures were from people running dealer oil (conventional 5w20). and many on here tell them to switch to redline, or pup 5w30. have the tick (which isnt it a sign of potential future problems with cam/lifters?) then switch to redline or pup. maybe im confused? noy questioning you or your knowledge. i have learned that you know your stuff. this just seems opposite of what the consensus is. im not a brand fan boy or anything like that. i just like to learn the truth and why stuff does what it does.
