Considering a 2021 Rebel with 5.7, 70,000 miles. Also considering a 2023 F150 with a 5.0, low miles. Coming from a 23 Tacoma V6 4x4. Also previously owned a 2012 Tundra with the 5.7, just cant find a low miles late model in my price range. The new Tundras are terrible looking IMO and have that 6 cylnder now.
What should I look out for with the Rebel? What are your opinions?

Amazing. No opinion from the Ram folks. I suppose it's not a good move with 70k miles. Musta struck a nerve.

Not sure what you expect people to say... get the one you like the best. This is a Ram forum so most are going to tell you they like Rams more.

Both are solid engines and the only drawback I am aware of is the 10-spd in the F150.

A Rebel is a completely different animal than an F150 so without knowing your intended use, expectations, etc... what opinions are you looking for? 70k miles isn't really a deal breaker on either one if the price is right.

My guess is that you want to tow a bigger trailer beyond the capability of the Tacoma. Neither the Ram or Ford you’re asking about are bad choices so long as they come with maintenance history and all maintenance was done with better fluids at much shorter intervals. Their shortcomings are a self-destructing 10speed or an engine with a known history of eating camshafts and lifters.

Another guess is that you’re going to roll over a payment into another, bigger, payment for no reason than to drive a bigger bro-dozer.

At 70000miles, that truck was dumped with no warranty. Hope you’ve got some negotiating skills to hammer the prices down.

What sort of input do you expect when you've given zero info about how you use the truck, why you're trading out of your old one, budget, etc. If you have specific questions, you'd probably get better answers.

Test drive both, research the features of both, figure out which one suits your use case and desires the best and buy it.

Thanks for the replies. Understandable. I was in a hurry this morning. Apologies.

The Tacoma is too small for business IMO. I'm in my truck for a few hours of the day sometimes conducting meetings from the cab via Teams, etc...
When I'm on the road, the back seat is taken with gear, samples, small amount of tools, travel bag backpack etc. The cab is tight when I have a customer out to lunch etc...

So, looking for a bigger truck with a V8. Because I like a V8. Loved my old Tundra, but they quit the 5.7 V8 in 2021, so that means older and hard to find, need to be presentable as well. That rules out most of the used Tundra market. Not to mention CRAZY resale prices. $40K for a 2019 with 100,000 miles. Nope.

Took a very brief look at a Ford F150 hybrid. POWERFUL and great for the generator aspect of it (hurricanes, camping), but wouldn't use those enough to make the difference. Then the additional battery and cost to repair/replace that.
Towing? Not much planned. Maybe a utility trailer. Done with boats.

I test drove the 2021 Rebel today. Nice truck, plenty of options, big screen...etc., split tailgate with the step under the tailgate..LOVED that. One owner, appeared to be taken care of okay. But when I think it's already 4 model years old ('26s will be coming soon) and it was just okay. But dealership wants $37k. not budging and offering $29k for my bare-bones SR Tacoma V6 4x4. By the time you're done trying to negotiate out of some of the fees...etc...and sales tax you're still looking cutting a decent sized check.

I'm debt free. No worry about payments.

So, I like the Rebel...but wont be doing a ton of off-roading aside from the dirt roads aroiund our farm place. Sometimes after a hurricane of torrential summer T-storm, I need 4wd to get down the road.
So... now you know a little more.
What would YOU be looking for in the Ram/Dodge Hemi truck scene? Say a 22 or newer with V8?

I’m no expert on the Rebel but I think it has auto 4WD and 3.92 gears as standard equipment which is a plus for me. If you want auto 4WD in an F150 it’s only available in the higher trims and I would strongly suggest getting 3.73 gears because the Coyote likes to rev. Also the 2021 and newer Coyote has a belt driven oil pump which there again is a big turnoff as far as I’m concerned.

Maybe look for a Laramie unless you just really like the look of the Rebel, since you don't plan to use the offroad features. Nothing wrong with the Rebel if you like the look.

Ram has a better ride than Ford and a nicer interior. If you said you were going to do more off road, Ford starts to look better in the half tons, but for all in road use Ram edges them.

Generator is nice if you need it, up to you how much you value it.

Ford can come with a bigger gas tank if you care about range between fill ups.

I'm not brand loyal, driven all the Big 3's trucks at some point.

The Ford 10 speed is a problem. RAM has great HP 8 speed. RAM IMHO all day long. BUT make sure U stay UP on the Maintenance, specifically OCI intervals, at 70K maybe differentials and tranny service, so you are good to go.

BUT yer wallet, do what makes U happy. OR U could try and wait till 2026, as RAM is allegedly bringing back the V8's in their 1500's, but now U talking some serious "change". I would not get a 25 RAM 1500, silly lil 3.0 L engine, with DI dual turbo's, no TY. But my opinion only.

I am not a year model person, so I don't care if something is 3-4 years old if it's been taken care of. My 2018 is the newest truck I've owned to date and it still looks brand new inside.

If you are going to depend on the truck for traveling, I would 100% pick the Ram for the 8-speed. That 10R180 is a ticking timebomb (don't ask me how I know). I would suggest considering what Doc said about the Laramie too. If you want a comfortable, smooth ride, you dang near can't beat the Ram for that. Our 2019 Expedition was a Limited model, and we would take my Ram on long trips when we could because after an hour or two in the cockpit the seats were uncomfortable and the interior felt cheap. We never get sore or tired in the Ram. YMMV.

DITTO to nlambert182.

ADDED: The alleged 2026 1500's coming out with a Non MDS 6.4L, that peaks my interest.

The dealership got in another 2021 Rebel on Tuesday afternoon. 55,000 miles, one owner Florida car. Carfax service records are great. Has a folding tonneau for the bed. Interior looks good and the technicians will be going through it tomorrow. Needs a good detailing, but all looks great on the exterior. I think wee will pull the trigger...but need to drive it first!
