I received this today.
I put the Sales Rep Contact from the email below since they want feedback.

Good morning,

Thank you for your continued interest in our Ram Gas replacement tank project. Transfer Flow is currently in the prototype phase and has reached a key decision point. To move forward, we would greatly appreciate your feedback.

At this stage, the tank is designed to hold 44 gallons. While we initially hoped to offer a larger capacity, available space has limited our options. Gas systems are also more expensive than diesel systems due to their complexity, which includes specialized fuel lines, extra emissions canisters, and the need for extensive testing.

To help guide our next steps, we kindly ask for your input on the following:

  1. The estimated retail cost of the currently designed 44-gallon tank is $2800. Would you be willing to invest this amount to increase your fuel capacity by 13 gallons?
  2. We are also considering increasing the tank's height to bring the capacity to approximately 50 gallons. Adding height requires a larger sending unit and adds approximately $400 to the total cost. Would this option be of interest to you?
We value your insight and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Your feedback is instrumental in helping us move the project forward.

Please respond directly to this email.

Warm regards,

Teri Barry

Seems a bit pricey, BUT..... Transfer Flow is a fantastic company to deal with. They stand behind their products 100%.

I had an intermittent fuel gauge issue with the 40 gallon in bed diesel tank in my old F250. The system was 5 years old and was in the truck when I bought it. Yet, they sat on a video call with me and literally walked me through finding the issue on the call. Had it fixed in half an hour. Service after the sale is worth $$$ IMO.

I believe the diesel tank setup I had retailed for somewhere close to $2k. Considering diesel is much easier to work with than gas, it might be a realistic number.

The other thing to consider is your diesel tank was in addition to your factory tank. So the 40 gallon tank gave you just that, an additional 40 gallons. Which works out to $50 per gallon of additional storage. The gasoline version would replace the existing stock fuel tank. So the $2800 is just for an additional 7 gallons if your stock tank is 33 gallons. That's a whopping $400 per gallon of additional storage. I could see maybe doing this if your truck came with the paltry 23 gallon tank. Then it would be more reasonable at about $165 per gallon of additional storage.

True... it sounds expensive (and I wouldn't do it), but my point is that IF I were going to pull the trigger on it... I wouldn't hesitate to use those guys.

If I had a pressing need for one I'd pony up $2800 for it. That's an extra 12 gallons that would give me another 100 or so towing miles before having to stop.

When I upgraded from my 3/4 ton to my 3500, had to have a 50 gallon tank. Only available in a long bed. Worth every penny.

First of all,
does that tank fit under the Bed, in the Stock Location ?

Or is it their In-Bed Tank ?

Is your Ram a 4 Wheel Drive ??

It's intended to replace the existing tank in the stock location.

Currently there are no aftermarket larger replacement fuel tank options for Hemi powered 2500/3500's.

I had a Transfer Flow Combo Tank in my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500, HEMI powered.
It held 30 Gallons, Ram had 32 Gallon Tank & i carried Three 6 Gallon Boat Jugs
That was a 80 Gallon Bomb !!

Nice!

This was my setup (diesel, of course).

It had the TRAX II monitoring/xfer computer so it refilled my main tank automatically every time the stock tank fuel level dropped below 3/4 full. The truck originally came from Alaska where fuel was hard to come by, so a 1,200 mile fuel range was pretty awesome. It was about the only thing I liked about that truck. Expensive, but well built stuff from this company.

The extra gallons also count against your payload capacity. May not be an issue for everyone but it needs to be calculated into the equation.

Ok, I'll admit I'm not experienced in this area. What is the big deal with the huge fuel tanks? I just don't understand. I usually have to urinate well before I ever run out of fuel and having extra fuel, more weight etc. just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Help Me understand by offering up something I can wrap my head around?

I travel by truck extensively, 25k or more per year. I pull a trailer, but have never needed more than the 26 gallon tank across multiple ram platforms.

Thanks for all insights

my '19 laramie 1500 hemi 4x4 ccsb had the 33 gal tank and even with a 3.92 rear end, I could go well over 600 highway miles on a tank but the wife required more frequent stops than that so didnt matter much. was nice to be able to go a few more miles between fuel stops when towing tho.

I really like mine that I installed on my truck. It's a slim one so it only holds another 45 gallons. Like you I, or the wife, has to go to the bathroom well before we run out of fuel but when I pull a camper it's nice because I just can pull over into any ol' station with it on the back. I think the thing I like best about it is when I find fuel really cheap somewhere in a different state I can top it off & last a long while before I have to pay the higher price. It has plusses & minuses but for me it works out great.

I'm not trying to be confrontational in asking this, but why do you care? People like what they like, and want what they want. The reasons are theirs. Asking people to give you reasons that you can understand and accept is unreasonable. It's not just about being able to continuously drive for hours on end.

Having said that, I can come up with a couple of reasons. People who tow often know how much the fuel economy is affected by that. And they want to have enough range to not be stopping every hour for fuel. Another reason is for people who overland. There are obviously fewer places to fuel up when you're out in the sticks. And my reason, the wife wants her vehicle to have the biggest tank she can get so that she doesn't need to fill up as often. It's as simple as that. I'm sure there are other reasons.

I liked it because it extended my range. I don't always travel with my wife and when I don't it's nothing for me to go do a 500+ mile trip without stopping.

Even when the wife is with me, she is really good at limiting how many times she wants to stop. It also helps with being able to go further without the need to find a big enough truck stop to get a rig into.

On our trip back in July, we were following another friend with a camper from Huntsville to Nashville, taking all backroads (due to the location of the campground). We took County Road 121 NE up to Hwy 64, then over to 264. There was one gas station that we could fit into and it was jam packed full of people trying to fuel up. I had plenty, but he had to drop his trailer across the street to get his truck in there.

100 lbs. If you're that close to your payload where 100 lbs will put you over you need a bigger truck, not a bigger fuel tank.

When i was still running my Pilot Car business, i had absolutely no input into when the Oversized Load truck driver would pull off the road to " cool down the tires "

Many of those truckers pee into a McDonalds 20 ounce cup & toss the ***** out of the window, all without stopping. They had at least 200 gallons of diesel, that would last at least 7 hours of driving.
Others would drive until they had to pee.
My 2009 Ram had a 32 gallon tank, i could drive right at 333 miles, without putting gas in.

I knew that i could drive from the Mexico/California Border to the bottom of the Grapevine, which is close to Bakersfield, then i had to stop.
I was out of gas, now if that truck driver wanted to keep going, i would not get paid for any of the trip.
