They appear to be. The one is 1000 more though. Have to print the window stickers and find the difference

So the only differences are the top one has a rear window defroster, trailer brake control and the rear camera and park assist group. Are they worth the extra $975. If I was to build I would probably want the trailer brake, other two not that important.

What does everyone think the best prices I should be looking for with these trucks?
Thanks

I love my Outdoorsman. I like the look of the black 20" rims. I ended up going with the 17" rims because it gave me a better tire for back roads, snow, and towing.

The rear defroster has come in handy this past winter. If you are gonna tow you will need the brake controller, however, you could go aftermarket if needed. The rear camera is a nice feature, I do use it when backing into spots. I turned off my front park assist once I got used to where my corners are. The silver truck will be much easier to keep clean. The black one looks good if you are willing to put in the effort to keep it clean.

They are both great trucks. If you need to tow and like the color, maybe the first truck is for you. Other folks will need to chime in regarding prices on '15's, or there are several threads dedicated to pricing.

Good luck on your shopping!

The 2 big options I knowticed on the black one that I didn't see (could of missed) was ther 3.92 and the 32 gallon tank hard combo to find on the lot but lots of guys love it.

Edit: take that back looked a little harder and found it both are almost fully optioned trucks that I wish I hard hard to go wrong!

I will definitely be towing a big trailer occasionally. 27 ft inline snowmobile trailer in winter. Have a black truck currently, yes it's a pain to keep clean but when it is it looks great.
Thanks for the replies.

2500 is definitely much better for towing. You may need that depending on what, how much, and how often you tow. The 1500 will be more comfortable and economical daily driver, the 2500 gives you much better towing capabilities. It looks like the 2500 is very nicely equipped. The only thing I can't speak to is the 5.7 vs. the 6.4 in the 3/4 ton truck. Unless you are pulling a lot of weight up and down mountains, the 5.7 may be enough for you.

The trailer I would be towing my buddy tows with his 1500 suburban with the 5.3
I would only be towing that big of a trailer a few times a year. It's a 27' inline nashcar trailer. Would be loaded with 3-4 snowmobiles. Would the 1500 handle it, or do I need the 2500?

pretty sure 3.92 is standard on the Outdoorsman. the tank might be too but can't remember now

any idea what the trailer weight is? the 4 snowmobiles isn't much so unless the trailer itself is really heavy there should be zero issues

The 1500 will handle pulling the sleds with no problems. What you have to account for is the payload of the truck. With the 1/2 ton you have 1400-1500# payload, that includes tongue weight, passengers, and anything else you throw into the truck. Most folks find they hit their payload limit way before they reach their tow limit in the half ton. That said, I can't imagine you would have problems pulling a couple thousand pounds of sleds on a trailer, just don't load them all up on the tongue and you'll be fine. If you find the truck squats too much, adding a set of air bags can help.

On my 1500 Outdoorsman the payload is 1088lbs so depending on how many people you put in the truck you can quickly run out of pretty much all towing capability.

Trailer weighs 2200 empty. Here's a picture of the black one.

would be more then fine then. snowmobiles are fairly light so depending what you have 4 shouldn't be more then 2000-2500 lbs plus the trailer so you should come in under 5000lbs leaving plenty of room for other stuff

Search on YouTube for "Ram 1500 and Ike Gauntlet". These guys pull an old Lincoln on a trailer (over 7000#) down and back up a mountain in Colorado, I've been on that stretch of I-70, it's a loooong stretch of elevation change. Once you see what the 1500 does there, you will feel warm and fuzzy about pulling your 4400# load.

Yeah we would be under 5000 for the trailer and sleds.

So talked to my dealer today. Seems they're getting in a load of new trucks. Unfortunately no Outdoorsman, appears only slt's. With a code of z which would indicate they're Big Horn's. My question is, is there much of a difference. Noticed different transfer cases. What's the difference. Not familiar with the Rams
