There should be enough thread room for an additional thin nut on each of the drag link threaded ends. Double nutting the adjuster sleeve on both ends might also work. Since the adjuster sleeve is used during a front end wheel alignment to center the steering wheel, it probably shouldn't be permanently fixed in its existing position.

I just noticed this and a passenger restraint recall on my unconnect this week. Will dealers typically give you loaner cars for these recalls?

Takes about an hour to fix these. You'll likely wait it out.

Tq stripe. Maybe I’ll throw some on my truck since I’m under there a lot anyways. Then I’ll know for sure if they’re moving. We used it on helicopters on anything that was tq’ed. Looks like bubble paint just a little line from the solid part onto the nut. If the line breaks it’s moved.

My 2018 has that. What is puzzling me is that my 2018 doesn't have loctite on the nuts, and isn't affected by the recall. When I put the leveling kit on it, I put loctite on them myself.

Mine doesn't have loctite either. And I have no issues. While loctite would help, I don't think it is needed.

I live in rural NC on surprisingly smooth roads and my 2016 Ram 3500 was fine until I drove to Houston,TX from here and the roads there are notoriously terrible in the city (hence potholes and bumps that beat you to death).
So all was still good after a week of lining out crews which required driving all over Houston. Then on the way back home I was 50 miles out of Houston and noticed my steering wheel was off a little and kept getting worse.

Moral of the story mine may have never been an issue either if it didn’t take a beating on Houston roads.

Then it wasnt tight enough to begin with.

. My family and I were immediately aware of the steering situation. Mine was fixed by a certified front end specialist mechanic prior to the recall. I know that you mean right in your question to fix it yourself.

I think they were installed by a certified front end specialist mechanic at the factory and now there's a recall.....

My point exactly, these nuts aren’t tight enough from the factory. If you haven’t checked them and you ride in rough terrain or roads you Will have issues. If you tightened yours just to be sure then you are fine.

I like the jam nut, it would aloud for adjustment later on and easier to brake loose them red loctite. But FCA will probably want to spot weld, because it's fast and cheap fix.

Sorry to hear that. My 2015 Hemi has had a few recalls, but minor ones, and the truck has been dead nuts reliable. Zero issues. 40,000 miles and counting.
Love my hemi Ram!!!

I was at my dealer in Houston yesterday and asked about this recall. They told me they don't have the parts available yet. Weird, since when I read the details on the recall the first step was to check the current torque and see if any subsequent work needed to be done. Evidently they (my dealer) are expecting 100% of affected trucks to need new parts.

Anyone else had their truck in for this recall yet?

Thank you so much for responding. It's great to hear from you. I'll check in with my dealer again and see what the status of the recall is.
