The GMs are rated at 10,650. You can order them derated, but it's the same truck with just a different sticker. Depending on where you live that might mean a non-derated 2500 has to be licensed and registered differently so I get where you're coming from.

The regulation thing is just paper work that can be changed by the government if we ever got to the point where all we had was electric 3/4 and 1 tons.

Exactly, backend things could just lead the condensing of three consumer levels to two. Could also mean increasing capabilities of each level (1500, 2500, 3500 all move up in maximums) but would like to know exactly what that means to me if I bought a 2500 in the future that is rated for, say, 12,000 pounds. I would need to see Federal and state regs at that point in time to know.

I know of what I speak - besides being in the industry 22 years, I was in U.S. Navy before that. USN cancelled an ENTIRE ship class because it took the contractor 3 years to get the software to work with God knows how many trillion lines of obtuse software code.

Coders out of control in this world. Glad I'm retired so I don't have to fight them anymore, except for my home stuff like this truck.

Absolutely true. I used to be a coder back in the day before I transitioned to other things in IT. It seems to me like EV and Starship Enterprise software and controls do not necessarily have to go together. It doesn't take much software to operate an electric motor from a battery, monitor battery levels and perform other functions. Our current smart phones are already more complicated than they would need to be to control an EV if you just wanted to design a car with the basic functionality everyone is used to with an electric motor replacing the gas engine.

Those are the numbers for gas engine trucks. GMC and Chevy 2500's with the Duramax diesels can be had in configurations with up to 11,550 for a Crew Cab, 4WD, Long Bed.

I think it depends on the state. In MN where I live, the over 10K provisions apply to vehicles used for business purposes. Pickup trucks purchased for personal use are specifically exempt.

Not a fan of the low roof line at all.

Being 6'4" I agree. The manufacturers keep angling the windshield lower and lower for mpg. We had an auto show in San Diego. All of us tall guys couldn't get in them. Same deal with the Tacoma,Ranger and Colorado.

I watch the video on this thing, I think it is neat for a city dude hauling some 2x4 and food, But as a work truck , not a chance . 3 rows of seats, silly as hell, but the dog would have loved it , the wife and kids could ride in the 2 & 3 row as she thought she owned the truck and should have the front. BTW My 2014 will change heat, radio etc. with voice commands, not that I ever bother, so I bet this thing would maybe be controlled with voice? Not that I will check it out

in California & some other States
driving anything with a rating of 10,001 pounds, must have a Class B License, although, i don't really think the police enforce it.

Do any of you remember a brand of pickup, that i think they had a model called a 1550 , or the model was in another country ?

Have an accident that takes out the door & bed & your insurance company would drop you
