I have a 2006 Ram 1500 2WD standard cab with 4.7 V8 equipped with a 6 speed manual gearbox. Runs great but the tin worm is getting to it.

The only real mechanical issue I have with it now is that the rear axle is getting really loud and I suspect the pinon bearing is giving up the fight.

There is no tag on the rear axle so that I don't know what axle ratio it is.

Using the method of counting wheel/drive shaft revolutions I believe the ratio is 3.73

can anyone tell me what ratios would have been available

Would I be better off to try and find a used axle or can I feasibly replace the pinion bearing

Looking forward to getting help with my repair projects for this truck

For a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 4.7L engine, the most common rear axle is the Corporate 9.25". However, the Dana 60 was also an option, particularly for certain trim levels or configurations. The best way to be certain is by a visual inspection and counting the bolts on the differential cover.
How to identify your axle
Count the bolts on the differential cover. This is the quickest way to distinguish between the two most likely axles.
Corporate 9.25": This axle has 12 bolts on its differential cover.
Dana 60: This heavy-duty axle can be identified by its larger size and 10-bolt cover.

Corporate 9.25": A 9.25-inch ring gear size was standard or optional on many Ram 1500s. It was available with several gear ratios.
Gear ratios often included 3.21, 3.55, and 3.92.

Make certain you know what you have first. I'd opt for repair but in may not be the cheapest option

Hello everyone, I have a Ram Power wagon and I hope it is ok for me to be in this group. I am in Spartanburg County South Carolina and I am not looking to push my truck to the limit but would love to find some off roading and I love camping so I have a Overland RTT on my truck and I am looking for places I can do both. If I am not allowed here I completely understand and will have no hard feelings to getting the boot, if I am allowed here I am looking forward to meeting other like minded people and some adventures.
