Just noticed this thread. I have a '17 Lone Star crew cab with 3.21 rear end. I bought the truck new and have had the same issue since day 1. It doesn't happen consistently, more sporadic. Feels like someone taps me from behind right before coming to a complete stop. I always look behind me when it happens. Happened today when I was coming back from lunch.

I am having the same issue with my 2016 3.21, with the lurch forward when coming to a stop, really annoying.

Any success with repairing this issue?

Got my truck back on Wednesday after having the driveshaft replaced. The bump is gone so far. Paperwork says the slip joint was hanging up so they replaced the driveshaft. Hope this doesn’t need to be replaced after another 15-23k miles. Truck is under a year old.

Are you having any more issues?

Did replacing the drive shaft resolve the issue?

Interesting. Do you show a part number on your service receipt for the new drive shaft? Curious if it’s an updated part.

I'll try to get a pic of the invoice tomorrow or Wednesday

Thanks, that is not a new part number. So we all have defective driveshafts? Makes no sense.

My truck is back in the shop
I had the valve body replaced - didn’t solve the issue

Had the service tech grease the spline in driveshaft, still not better

Service manager said next step is to install a new transmission

I mentioned the slip joint hanging as a possible cause, he dismissed it

My transmission was replaced. It helped, but did not eliminate the issue.

That's where a trans tune comes in
Ask dealer to put it in learn mode, no need for a tranny tune. And if you read the tranny tune vendors - they suggest you to put the tranny in learn mode right after you flash it

Re-learning does not correct this particular issue. But if it is related to the drive shaft, a custom tune for the tranny will likely not help (much) either.

I just received a call from my service department - a master tech from FCA was there yesterday - he said that the lurching forward is a known issue with our trucks,

FCA is working on a transmission update to fix the issue.

There is no known ETA.

The FCA rep. said that if they replace the tranny, the lurching forward issue will come back within 5k miles, since its a programming issue.

Not really sure why there wouldn’t already be an update for a known issue - but that’s the explanation I was given

If you put your truck in "TOW/HAUL" does it still lurch forward at a stop?

Just curious, when i am in tow/haul mode, the issue seems to go away

I’ve never driven it in tow/haul unless I’m towing my boat, and I still have some pretty violent clunks and lurches when doing so.

I bought my 2016 in July 2018. Around 4-5 months later mine started doing this. Did it through the entire winter. Reading posts like this on this forum and seeing all the different opinions on what is happening I haven't done anything with it. As summer rolled around this year and the temps got warmer it hasn't done it once. I have no idea if the warm weather has to do with it but it makes sense that when I test drove the truck last July and throughout last summer i never had the issue, Fall/winter comes and it starts happening then return to summer and it goes away. I have no explanation.
