Greetings all. First time poster here. I just got rid of the crappy stock 22" touring tires off my 2020 Ram Laramie Longhorn (2WD). They only lasted 24k miles. Tires started to chunk. After much searching I finally decided to go with the Recon Grapplers (305/45/22). Mainly based off a recent post on here. Very impressed with them so far. I haven't leveled it yet, so was a bit concerned with it rubbing. Good news, no rubbing at all in full lock out turn. Still going to level it soon. Will be putting about 2k miles on them this weekend. Will try to follow up with a review.

Nice looking truck the color looks good. I went with recons as well. They are pretty nice so far but they suck in the rain. Really easy to break traction.

Really? How many miles on them? I’ve heard the release compound takes a while to wear off.

1k miles. Still happy with them as summer is almost here. I am going to run a snow tire this winter so these will be a summer/spring tire.

Ahh. I was looking at them for my next summer tire but we get decent rain here and to not have good wet road traction is a disqualfier for me. Was hoping they improved the wet road traction over the ridge grapplers.

Man, I love the Ridge Grapplers in the rain, how many miles on yours? And did they not perform good from the get go?

They came on my truck with about 10k on them. They have been slippery in the rain from the time I got them. They are truly horrible in snow. Thankfully I run a dedicated winter set. I love their ride, lack of noise and dry manners.

I didn't have a problem yesterday. Hell of a storm with lots of standing water. So far so good.

I find my issue is when I take off from a dead stop on a incline. It's really bad when I am hooked up to 15k trailer. If I have to pull out in front of traffic I get a bit sideways. On concrete paving I have no issues it's mostly asphalt that is slippery

I doubt the OP will have this issue with his 1500, especially if he uses auto 4wd. He doesn't have stump pulling torque like you have. ;)

@hrnttwk nice looking truck! My last truck was that color. Looks amazing when clean, especially when it's sitting in the sun.

True but no traction is no traction. The hemi has enough power to break loose. I am also running 35x12.5r17 there is a lot of tire flex for traction but nope.

It takes a lot more to break all four tires than just the rear. Which is why I mentioned 4wd auto. My understanding is that HD's don't have that option.

Yeah I had a 2014 1500 with it. I used it one time and the noise it made I never used it again lol.

ROAD TRIP UPDATE:
I just completed a 2500ish mile road trip over the last few days. In all, the new tires were great. Road noise is VERY minimal. Just barely over stock tire sound. Grip was on point. Had a hell of a rain storm in Illinois over the weekend. Never lost traction once. That was in standing water, starts and assorted pavement. Handles potholes well (welcome to Illinois). Mud traction was great.

I did notice a rub once during a hard u turn. Haven't heard it since. No concern, especially since it's getting leveled soon.

I'm back in sunny Florida and it's time to wash the truck.

Mine doesn't sound any different in 4wd auto than it does in 2wd. I never owned a 4th gen with it so I can't make a comparison with those.

Mine sounded like a cup of marbles when it went from 2wd to 4wd. It happened especially in sand or snow. I never used the option after that.

I run in 4wd auto for pretty much the whole winter. Sounds like you never took yours in to have it looked at. I'd have had mine back at the dealership the first time I heard a noise like that.

my Friends truck sounded the same and his wife Tahoe did it as well. I think its just the design really and your going to have noise when it engages. I really didnt care for the auto 4wd as i am a believer in you dont put it in 4wd till you have to lol. There was no noise when locking in 4wd so i figured it was just the system.

I get that mentality. The 2017 Rebel I used to own didn't have the full-time 4wd transfer case, so auto 4wd wasn't an option. I only selected 4wd when it was needed. Auto 4wd is more like awd, and is designed to be usable full time. I've had it on two trucks since owning that Rebel, and neither one made noises when using auto 4wd. It's not normal for it to make noises LOL.
