The muffler doesn’t matter. The whole exhaust needs to be freer flowing. Louder doesn’t always mean more power. The stock manifolds and y pipe suck. Shorties and a new high flow y pipe would help. Long tubes and y pipe would be better. Full catback exhaust or custom exhaust from the y pipe back is better too. And a true custom tune works wonder over a flash tune especially with exhaust. And yes. Get rid of that intake or add plumbing to get it in front of the radiator or behind the front bumper. That’s sucking in hot air from the engine bay. You need to get that filter out of the engine bay or install a air box back in and add in some air tubes to draw air from behind the front bumper.

Thanks, makes sense. And yes I’m sure the old motor is tired. Probably gonna rebuild next year. Thanks for the non-smart a*# response.

Answer - PEDAL COMMANDER - you'll get all the tire spin you want in the sports+ setting.
And it's the least expensive mod you an get to do that! Most PC owners swear by them - not at them!!!!

How about these?

Truck Nuts

As stated above - Pedal Commander should do what you need.

You will have to understand that the 2003 model was a big change from previous models, electronics being a biggie. Then Chrysler changed the models a lot in 2004. That made the 2003 the step child of the 3rd gens. so, they stand alone. You can do small changes to your truck for performance, but if you want to install a new performance camshaft you will most likely have problems trying to tune it to run properly. May 2003 owners with the 5.7L HEMI install the PCM, wiring harness, and TIPM out of a 2005 model in order to have more leeway in tuning the truck. Good luck with your build.

I guess your definition of "no balls" and mine are completely different. You say "no balls" because you can't spin tires. I hear no balls and assume it won't pull. My truck won't spin tires, it'll just sit there and bounce the back end to death (2017 2500 4X4 CC LWB diesel on 35-12.5 x 35 inch mud tires) but it'll pull just about anything I connect it to it.

I’m guessing stock 3.55 gears with 275/55 20’s on the rear, no factory traction control…….oh and 244,000 miles on the motor.
They did not do 3.55 gears, they did 3.21, 3.73, 3.92.

This is an partially incorrect statement.

My 2005 RAM 1500 indeed came with 3.55 gears as the same for my 2009 RAM 1500.

My two 2014 RAM 1500's came with the 3.92 gears and my current 2017 RAM 1500 has 3.21 gears.

With posi-track it might be hard to "burn" rubber. So doing that shows no respect for your ride. Smoking tires is not cool it's immature!

My 03 1500 4x4 Hemi was 3.55... Bought it new back in the day... Did not break traction on dry payment but was a fast truck. Perhaps its the PCM that keeps it from breaking traction. I drive a 2001 1500 4x4 now and even pulling 300hp at the flywheel I do not break traction... Found out even on gen2 the PCM has a built in traction control (******* the timing on WOT). A custom tune can fix that.

Mostly bald street tires and a puddle of water!

My RCSB '14 with mild cam, LT headers and dyno tuned still doesn't want to lose traction.
She puts it all in the pavement and launches ... but that's what you really want.
