I've searching info about this canbus thing. I have a 2002 a cheap factory cassette deck and tried to install a new deck and got a no bus cam up. I've done a lot of stereo upgrades even my old 98 Dakota never had this problem.

Questions

1: why is there 2 yellow and two black on the harness? Do I need to run power from the battery and ground the other black?

2: I just twist the wire together and taped it up. Maybe that is the problem. Solder or crip connectors?

3: do I need canbus harness? I heard not for my application

When no bus came up all the gages went dead. After I put the factory stereo on everything works fine.

Did you use a wire harness or did you cut the factory harness off and wire it up? If i remember right you have to ground it with the black wire and 12v with the yellow.

Nah, I didn't cut the factory wires. I used the harness I bought.

Connect one of the yellows and one of the blacks? Weird.
