No MDS on 2013 Laramie?

Is it possible to NOT have MDS on a 2013? I just bought a used 2013 Laramie last month and I have yet to see the ECO light come on. Checked the EVIC and radio to see if I need to enable it but don't have the option to do so. The original sticker says MDS but I am not seeing it. I read in another forum that if the 8th digit of the VIN is a 'D' then the vehicle does not have MDS and the 8th on mine is a D. Can anyone clear this up for me? I don't necessarily want the MDS, just want to know why I am not seeing it.

My Eco light comes on & I have MDS disabled.........I do believe you have another issue.....how does it run & what's the gas mileage

I have my mds tuned out an aftermarket cam and non mds lifters installed and my eco light still comes on lol.

Runs like a top...smooth. Gas mileage is about 13 in the city and 15/16 on the highway. Running 4" lift, 35s w/ 392 gears.

I don't think so...just trying to understand why I am not getting the light and/or if truck had MDS or not.

The eighth on my vin is a T and I have mds,my eco light works too. 2013Ram express hemi and the 6 spd, I hope to turn mine off in the future though.Not hardly a dimes worth of difference in fuel economy anyway

That’s what I get with the same setup. I have my MDS tuned off. When I had it on I was getting a lot more MPG.

With a code reader or scantool check to see if there's a pending code. When there's a pending code MDS is disabled ...

I do not know how the RAMs operate but on my 2011 Chrysler 300C, the ECO light had nothing to do with MDS operation. I had a custom tune with no MDS on that car for 5 years and the ECO light still worked unless I disabled it in the uConnect. My tuner, HemiFever told me that was normal.

Mds is separate from the eco light. There should be a setting either in the radio or cluster to turn the eco light on or off.

Eco light just tells you that you are driving in the most efficient manner.

Mds and the eco light do tend to come on about the same time

I ran the VIN and it shows it with MDS. I also have the original widow sticker and I've pulled it off the web before too. Thanks.

I know at some point they added that ability. It's possible that the truck has been tuned and mds was turned off and possibly the eco light. But as far as I know all gas 4th gen truck's have mds except pre 2013 2500/3500 and 13+ 3500/4500 truck's

How did you turn the MDS off completely? How much better MPG did you get with it turned on?

Correct, if the code is Pending it means the PCM has found a fault on a multiple event fault code. For example if a code for too rich takes 3 times for it to set the check engine light but the PCM has only found 1 rich condition, it will set a pending code. That will disable MDS and the Eco light.

Had this happen a couple years ago with an Evap code. All of a sudden MDS stopped working and the Eco light stopped illuminating. Got home and pulled the codes to find a pending P0441.

Also before you start it up on a cold start, check in the uconnect settings under display and make sure "fuel saver in cluster" is checked.
