I'm swapping my chrome off for color matched. Ebay store sells them paint matched to your door for a decent price. The chrome has held up well for 4 years though and I'm sure I would have had some chipping with a painted bumper. Chrome needs to be replated but you can do chrome vinyl wrap, Clear PPE vinyl to help protect if the finish is good which would help with light side swipes. You can also get new chrome bumpers online for $300 or so each.
