No OD? Any ideas?

I'm not 100% sure on this but it seems like I have no OD anymore. I don't see the ECON light as much anymore, especially on the highway. I am tuned with MDS disabled but this is new after weeks of tuned driving. At first, it was business as usual. I saw an increase in fuel economy, even with the tendency to torture the skinny pedal.

I read somewhere that the OD clutch is problematic in our trucks, but I haven't been able to find anything else on it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

6 speed or 8? On edit: I just read ur other post about the new tune. I would bet a day rate that it is only the tune making ur trk drive alot different and that u havent lost it. It is probably just got a different shift schedule or something. If u are still seeing the ECO occasionally then I bet ur ok. If you hv the 6 speed and console shifter maybe you are accidentally moving the shifter to the left? I know that's not it, just thinking outloud...

What are your rpms going say 70 mph? If it is under 2k I would say od is working.

I do have the console shift but I know I'm in Drive.

RPMs at 70 are right around 1800 if I remember correctly although I want to say they were 1500 ish before. I asked Sean at HEMIFEVER about this and he said he hasn't changed anything that would affect OD.

Idk... I could care less about gas mileage.... but if something is broke at 8000 miles, I want it fixed!

Maybe it's the truck after relearning my heavy foot!? I just remember that light being on a lot more before and I swear I was right around 1500 RPMs cruising on the highway. Could be wrong tho.

I have 3.21 gears (just added info).

If you put the tranny in manual mode while cruising on the highway, what gear does it say its in?

Is the truck cold?

You won't have OD before the transmission warms up to a certain temp.

No... even after driving for hours... still the same.

Well, at least it thinks its in top gear and isn't throwing any codes.

Why exactly do you think it is wrong?

Also, once you get it reading "6", step on it and watch it shift back to "5" and back into "6".

No codes. It just seems different than before. Like I said before... the tune didn't make this change because it was fine and then all a sudden things are different. I think I cruise 75mph at a higher RPM than before, ECO light isn't on as often and mpgs have suffered.

I'm a 1000 miles from my truck right now... I'll try the downshift thing when I get home next week.

Put the truck in tow/haul and count the shifts as you take off. It will skip second if not in tow/haul mode.

It skips 2nd prime gear. It still has 2nd. The difference in gear ratios between 2nd and 2nd prime is like 200 rpms so there isn't a point in using it normally.

No... it snowed every day I was home this last weekend. Didn't hardly drive the truck.

I thought the same thing. After the tune, I thought the ECO mode turned on slightly less, but the way its tuned it that the TPS adjust for more fueling with less pedal pressure, which in turn limits the activation of the MDS /ECO. ECO MUST be tied in with the TPS somehow.

You really have to get up to speed, and let off the gas TOTALLY to get it to shift into ECO mode. And mine wont stay on past about 110 km/hr, unless im not giving gas at all.

Id almost prefer a tune that leaves the TPS and fueling stock. If I wanna go faster ill just press the pedal further down.

If you have MDS disabled, that would explain your decrease in fuel mileage - and possibly your ECO light coming on less frequently.
