Hay all my 07 ram 1500 was looking oil pressure every once in a while. So after taking a closer look it was the oil pick up tube clogged up. So I stopped the oil pan and replaced it. After buttoning everything back up now I have no oil pressure at all. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on and why I have no oil pressure now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You put oil back in?

You aligned the pick-up tube correctly?

You cleaned the tube itself?

Not a lot of info to go on in your post. Why did you "replace" the oil pan if it was just crap clogging the P/U tube? Do you mean reinstall? A wise old mechanic once told me when short goes sideways, go back to the last thing you did. If I had to guess from here, I would guess incorrect P/U tube install/positioning.

Oil is in
Pickup tube is in line correctly at Sam angle as original.

I put in a new pick up tube because the old one was just to clogged to even risk cleaning and using again. Oil pan had a lot of sludge and black grime like debris in it same with pick up tube. Originally would lose oil pressure once in a while So I replaced oil sending unit, then replaced oil gauge and that wasn't it so dropped pan and found it was a clogged tube. All parts were reinstalled properly and still not sure what the problem is.

You're experiencing what I hate about sludge in engines. I bought a beater a few years back and it ran great...... until I had to replace the valve cover gasket. I pulled the valve cover and it didn't look like it had ever had an oil change. There was thick sludge everywhere. I tried not to disturb it, but must have knocked some loose. It never ran right again and I fought oil delivery problems until I got mad and just let it blow up and sent it to the scrap yard.

Typically things get worse when you disturb the sludge. I would bet that you dislodged some of the sludge and it got sucked up and is clogging an oil passage somewhere.

That could be, but again, I'd go back and recheck everything from step A through Z. Try installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge, even if it's only temporary, to eliminate a bad sending unit/gauge/wiring. If you have crap on a journal somewhere, then you have to look at more serious options, check and recheck the easiest stuff first.

Thanks for the advice but I have checked the easy stuff. Last option would be to pull the oil pan back out and check everything inside. As this is a 9 hour job I was kind of hoping someone knew of something I missed. All sludge and debris is gone. Sludge was minimal any way so not worried about that but I am worried that in changing pickup tube the oil pump may have went out. Any other ideas would be appreciated thanks

On the pick up tube you have to remove oil pan to access it so that is why I removed it to install a new one.

Do you already have a mechanical pressure gauge or just the electronic one?

Just the electrical one but you can tell that there is no oil pressure from the way it Sounds.

If the sending unit is new and the pick up screen is clear then I'd suspect the oil pump is either bad or has lost prime. You can try to prime the oil pump by removing the sending unit and pumping oil in the hole with a mechanical pump. If the engine has run a long time without oil pressure then I'd worry about damage to the lifters, main or rod bearings.
